I highly doubt Sony came up to you and told you to buy a PS4 just for sports. And my apologies, but I don't think the PS4 is out yet.

Also, MMORPGs are going to be huge this generation for consoles. FFXIV is going to be great on the PS4 and they are also allowing us to play many free to play MMORPGs(for free no ps plus needed) on there too. Games like planet side 2, dc universe online, Everquest Next!!! and so on.

Even if there are more MMORPG's on consoles this gen, it's practically guaranteed by the past that PC's will still have a much more vast library of the genre.

My point is, Nintendo just focuses on Mario and their handful of 1st party games and kid stuff like Disney infinity and lets major gamer stuff go by as if its not important. This is not a gamers console, they lied about that. A gamer will need a 2nd console to fulfill the basic genres of gaming.

The sports genre isn't really a hardcore genre. It's aimed at a casual audience. The abscence of Sports games on WiiU on the moment does not make it less of a "gamer's console". And I'm quite jealous of your hand size you know, I could never fit that many first party Ninty games in my puny hands.

@Sony Ah I forgot about a couple of those. They're seemingly so spread out I still don't think there's going to be a vast abundance of them like there is on the PC, but the Wii U having none of them will be a negative.

@Happy_Mask(1st Post) You are correct about that. Bethesda games are vastly superior on the PC. I've put so many mods into Skyrim that my 360 version seems ancient and hideous.

@Gamer I see where you were going now. We're on the same side of this since I've always advocated for the Wii being a complementary gaming system. Nintendo has this sort of 'only we matter' approach and shuns outside developers, which results in us pretty much only playing what Nintendo makes. If Nintendo wants to attract new customers without living off the Wii name, they should be advertising to devs as nearly as much as consumers. Though I don't think that will ever happen.

... when's the last time Bethesda made something for a Nintendo console? I'm seeing a title "Wheelspin" that came out for the Wii in 2006, but I've never played it nor have I heard anything about it.

Just remember that 3rd paries are to blame for the lack if their own games on Wii U. Not Nintendo.
The way I look at it, there won't be any reason to ignore an install base of over like 5 million(by the end of the year).
The 1st party games will push Wii U sales before PS4 and Xbox One release. Nintendo is definitely taking advantage of releasing the Wii U one year earlier than the PS4 and Xbox One.

Nintendo consoles don't attract the same demograph that Bethesda target their games too.

Bethesda, welcome to my list of "companies to not buy any games from next gen".

Any company that just does this without a good reason just doesn't deserve my money. I will have an XBOX ONE, and I still have a gaming PC, but I am just not gonna buy Bethesda games anymore.

Ugh, that black-and-white mindset that Besheda is giving doesn't seem too promising. Third-parties like this one thinks that Nintendo are that simple or that gullable to buy half-hearted efforts (i.e. Sniper Elite V2 WiiU port) just makes me sick.

I know. Even a Fallout 3 port would be all I'd need so long as they include that kind of functionality. Unfortunately, Bethesda isn't great with ports. I'd imagine the engine they used for those games has something to do with it, but I'm not sure. It was Buggie as hell on the PS3. Perhaps they don't want to go through that experience again...

I just want to say that out of all that you listed MMORPG wise, most of those are getting bad reception(yes elder scrolls online has been getting bad reception). I mean hell FF14 had to be completely remade to be good because it came out like 2 years ago. While its bad that the wii is missing out on a few of those(planetside 2) i would hardly call it a complete loss considering mmo's tend to be best with a mouse and keyboard setup from the get go (considering they are designed around it).

Uh no. FFXIV: ARR is getting great reception, its a whole new game. The game you are talking about was no good, but this new FFXIV is awesome, I'm in the beta and playing today actually on my PC and can't wait for release and will get it on PS4 as well. Elder scrolls is getting bad rep only from dumb people, nobody has played it yet. The point is that on Wii U, you have no chance to even play it or any of them as Nintendo only caters to family and kids, they let al the great games go by because they made a machine with weak specs and then make it hard to make games for it.

You keep trying to defend nintendo, where are the games? What MMO can you tell me about on it? What sports game? What action RPG? What realistic boxing game or MMA game or which Open world games? Which FPS games?

Nintendo has only kid games and then 1st party mostly platformers. I love Zelda, mario, etc thats why I have a Wii U, but if I only had a Wii U, I would starve as a gamer as they have very little to offer overall.

I hope Nintendo learns something this time around. They release a new console with pretty much no power and a gimmick controller and charging the same amount for games and even more for controllers and accessories than the much more powerful systems that have 10x as many games. They rely on Nintendo fanboys that would buy Miyamoto's underwear for $500. They know you guys will support them no matter how bad their machine is or what they do.

I support Nintendo by buying Wii U, but I also will let them know how I feel about what they are doing. They promised a gamers console and lied. This console has 10% of its games made for gamers, 90% made for kids and casual family entertainment. Most of them are not even good either, they are quick cash grabs so far.

They didn't eat anything they said. They never said they would never support Wii U.

Besides, who are they losing sales to? People with other systems that would have purchased their games, but won't because they like Nintendo too much to support them? I don't think that's a large enough demographic to care about.

They could come out tomorrow and say they use Wii U's as doorstops in the office. Their next game is still going to sell millions and millions.

Lets call what FF 14 what it is, a game that did poorly. So poorly infact it has been redone to such an extent it is essentially relaunching itself under a some what new banner to mark the major overhaul it went through. Regardless if it may be great now, it has poor reception due to its predecessor as it left a bad taste .Elder Scrolls has been getting a bad rap because it simply hasnt shown anything thats new, it comes across very very standard mmo.

I dont entirely defend nintendo i simply made one point about the MMO's you listed not being as great as your making them out to be. As iv said in other threads , being a pc gamer i feel like i have some sort of different opinion when it comes to these matters. I didnt buy my wii U to be my one stop shop console nor did i expect it to, i bought it for nintendo games that i know and love . In my mind i want to see nintendo develop a niche within the gaming community, i dont want them to compete with sony and microsoft because honestly they are becoming so close to each other its absurd and are even closer to becoming gaming PC's and if nintendo does then it will simply die. It should try to develop itself a strong exclusive catalog to find its home which seems to be whats going on .

You keep tossing around the word gamer, but if you ask me a gamer is simply someone who enjoys and is passionate about games. And the main thing you should be having with games is fun and thats all that matters.

Yes I play on PC, I play on Wii U and I will be playing on PS4.

But, not everyone can afford all of these machines to play on. So those that are stuck with a Wii U only are going to miss out on everything this generation. All the other consoles let you play in every genre and even adding MMORPGs and tons of free to play games, etc.

Wii U is pretty much how you said a machine to play Nintendo 1st party games. If you enjoy more than that, you have to buy a PC or PS4/Xbox1 to be able to play all the games you enjoy.

PC I hate sports on that, so usually get my sports games on console as the devs actually make the games fro console then make poor ports for PC. Now on Wii U they are not getting any of the major sports games, so you see I need a PS4 for that. That's my point, I feel bad for people that got a Wii U expecting it to have strong 3rd part games and be a machine for the all-around gamer.

I think those people are few and far between, to be honest. Most gamers that take the time to frequent forums like these are pretty informed about the industry landscape. They know, regardless of "promises" made, that Nintendo's consoles will not have anywhere near the amount of third party support as the other systems. If you want that, you'll get an Xbox, which has pretty much turned into a console for multi-platform releases, Gears, and Halo.

Also, can you hook up your PC to your TV somehow and just purchase your favorite controller? I have an HDMI running directly from my PC rig to my HD TV and a 360 controller hooked up. I can game on my couch just like a console but with the improved performance and options of a PC. You should totally consider that for the sports games you mentioned. You can also hook it up to take a wireless 360 controller if your tower is further away from the TV.

Not wanting to lose money isn't a valid reason to you?
