Pete Hines: We have nothing announced in development for Wii U. It's not something that we've done anything for previously. I don't even remember the last time we've done a Nintendo title. We don't have anything now. Whether or not we would in the future is TBD. As for why, I guess I'd rather not go into that.

Whoa hold on, an Elder Scrolls game or something similar could be great for the Wii U! Lockpicking, character management, conversation, and more. Elder Scrolls could make great use of the Wii U. I guess Nintendo has to really progress so that Bethesda will be impressed.
I'm a big Bethesda fan. But I have no idea about their history w/ Nintendo. Maybe he IS referring to bad blood? Maybe he just doesn't feel the Wii U isn't a viable platform, but prefers to not publicly say so as he still respects Nintendo?
It ain't easy being cheesy...

More likely he knows people would flood them with hatemail if they actually said the truth.
Nail on the head
This is what you say when you look down upon hardware but don't want to come off as a jerk. People are much better off asking other devs to support the console, because Bethesda, Bungie, CD Project Red are all the types of developers that want nothing to do with the console

But all three of those devs make good games. Bethesda is a big deal as it reconfirms no @k support which by proxy means no GTVA5.

You don't have to tell me, they're probably my three favorite developers. lol
Efforts spent towards bringing them over to the Wii U would probably be better off spent elsewhere though. Some of the devs that supported the Wii (also not a great wealth of options) would be most likely to develop for the Wii U.
The statement is kind of harsh but I doubt Nintendo is losing sleep over this. Bethesda has been in business for almost 30 years now and only have a handful of games on Nintendo hardware.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

Great avatar.
I can't say I think they're nuts or anything, but I do wish they would do something on WiiU. If only because the Game Pad is essentially a perfect Pip Boy. ahem ahem ahem ahem cough
I don't even care if 3rd parties develop games for the Wii U. They should just port them from another platform, instead
I don't think you guys realize that a port of basically any game to the Wii U would give 3rd party developers a 4 million and growing install base to cater to, on a platform they never intended to get their game.
For all we know, Activision could be porting the PS4 version of Destiny to the Wii U right now. It's possible.
Porting a game costs a fraction in comparison to the initial development.

If I was Nintendo, I know I would.
They barely made anything for the Wii. What would make anyone, including Nintendo, think that they would be making anything for the Wii U right now?
As of right now its probably in Nintendo's best interest to put all their efforts into pushing their own software and making sure that 3rd parties like Ubisoft that are actually still supporting them dont jump ship.

They would probably be porting the PS3 version because that system's version is designed to run a on a system with the Wii U' s power. I would also like to know why third-partys don't seek to know about this additional user base they can make extra money from with a port.
