For all of you people that have Super Smash Bros for Wii U or 3DS, let me ask you a question. What is the best Smash game? I don't really know yet because Smash have not been released in Europe yet and I'm from Sweden so....... you know. But anyway, please tell me witch one is the best if you have played all games from 1999 to 2014

I like Brawl the best because of the music. It's the most epic

Of 64, Brawl, and Melee, Melee.

I haven't made a decision on Smash 4 yet.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Melee, even now, is the most technical of the series, as well as having the best balancing so far (Smash 4 might "patch" up eventually, but the latest one makes me doubt that). The amount of characters was spot-on, the controls were tight, and challenges were much more tense than in the rest of the series. It's also the best Smash Bros in terms of balance between Singleplayer and Multiplayer options.
There has to be a reason a group of highly-experienced Smash pros took it upon themselves to make Brawl play more like Melee: because the overall experience was simply that much better.

That said, Smash 64 and Smash 4 are tied as the worst entries for me. Both feel very restrictive and unbalanced, and the fun is entirely dependant on having people to play with, which is actually very sad, since the Single Player options of both entries are a plain insult. Brawl was okay, but overloaded with one-off gimmicks that defined the gameplay more than the actual battles.

Wow, that made me little nervous about Smash 4. But Smash 64 was the first in the series, and it was also kind of a prototype.

I'm voting on which game is the best based on their ending credit sequence.

Good for you.

The Wii U version has been available for 3 days maximum (in many areas of the world, the game isn't even available yet), and you think you'll get any balanced opinions in comparison with titles that has been available for many many years?

I'm really enjoying Smash 4 right now. I don't enter tournaments but I would rank my favs in this order:
1. Melee
2. Smash 4 (Wii U)
3. Smash 4 (3DS)
4. Brawl
5. 64

My only complaint with Smash 4 (and it's not really the game's fault) is that I can't get my hands on the GC adapter. I could, but I'm not going to spend $100+ to get one. This has left me with the gamepad, Wiimotes, 1 classic controller, and 1 3Ds to use as my controller while my GC controllers gather dust. Ideally I would like a combination of 4 following: Gamepad, GC controllers, and/or Pros. This has us fighting over the Gamepad. If I went and bought a Pro....I would probably need to pick up 2 in order to avoid more fighting. $$$$$$$$$$

Super Smash Bros for Wii U is the best Smash Bros

It is the most balanced and the most fun to play. Melee is to technical and character teir matters to much. Smash 4 hopefully will never have to bad of character teir list. The only thing bad in Smash 4 isthe level editor, Brawl's Level Editor was better

I don't get how people can make a decision on Smash 4 yet. For me, I'm really unsure between it and Melee. Melee was faster, but Smash 4 has a bigger sense of scale and power, and some really neat characters, while not feeling lethargic and floaty like Brawl.

When I played Brawl, I knew it felt different, so that was much more of an immediate effect.

You make a good valid point. I'm putting my judgement on temporary hold until I play Smash 4 more.

Yes, and Smash 64 was also only made by Sakurai in his free time for the most part, but that doesn't change my personal view on it.
That said, don't let my view on Smash 4 deter you from at least trying it.

I probably have over 50 hours in Smash 4 already, how long do people need to play it before they can make a decision about it? It is probably longer than I played Brawl

I'd go with Brawl. The original is too old (though the original building block, so props), and Melee is the worst by far. The problem with Brawl and 4 is that the decision isn't so clear cut. 4 (Wii U) added cool characters, new stages, great music, more fun events, plus multi-man home run contests and the awesome chronological All Star mode. Getting rid of the fan was a plus too, as well as making Sonic not worthless and splitting Zero Suit Samus from her worse armored self. However, replacing clone characters with more clone characters seems redundant, and Olimar is wholly nerfed. The home run bat is slightly more broken, while Marth's (and his new rule 63 friend Martha's) final smashes are still as unfairly... unfair as ever. The main problem I have is the actual battling. Something about it just feels off. Moving and attacking aren't as fluid as they were in Brawl, and grabbing items is almost as frustrating as it was in Melee. Grabbing the items is almost irrelevant though, due to how weak they are, particularly when thrown (the bumper is a main example). The screen feels more zoomed out than it was in Brawl, which makes it easier to get lost in the stage (particularly in either large stages or the awfulness of 75 M), plus hits don't feel as impactful as they once were. It's nice that they removed tripping, but 8 player smash isn't as fun as it originally seemed, and the stage bosses are frustrating.

75 M is a good example of certain stage changes. It was bigger in Brawl, yet a bit more intimate. You could actually kill your opponents, while in the Wii U version the stage is your biggest antagonist. Despite all of the stages, 75 M just keeps being picked using random, darnit. Oh, and the stage builder is total, utter garbage (these compliments and complaints are all over the place as I keep remembering things).

It's tough to go back to Brawl with all the new content added, but the main part, the battling, is just worse overall and a lot more frustrating than it should be. When playing Mario Kart 8, I don't really miss much from the Wii version, but here, it feels like, to get all this new, awesome stuff, we had to sacrifice a lot, and maybe it wasn't worth it.

It's Melee

Don't get me wrong, I am loving Smash Bros. for Wii U (Larry Koopa ftw!!), but despite how beautiful it looks my vote is always going to go to Melee. It has the best controls of the series in my opinion and I love the overall speed of the game (don't even get me started on Brawl).

I don't know who told Nintendo that they needed to ruin Classic Mode for Smash 4, but they sure went ahead and did it. In Melee I happily beat Classic, Adventure, and All-Star mode with every character. I played Classic Mode in this new one once and I doubt I will ever return to it. Yes, I realize that the single player options of Smash Bros. are not all that important, but for my money Melee had the best stuff in the series.

I'll admit that Smash 4 is much closer to Melee than Brawl ever was, but I miss some of the features and modes that Melee offered. Plus the memories of playing Melee as a teenager with my friends; we're all in our late 20s now and off during our own thing, so Smash 4 will, unfortunately, never make the type of memories that Melee did.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

Haven't played the Wii U version yet, so I didn't include it.
