Yeah, but the bigger picture is that third parties aren't selling, right? This is bad all around. Needs to be addressed.
Ya, but there's not anything Nintendo or Wii U owners can do. This kind of stuff happens all the time.
Just look at Nintendo Zone, for example. Nintendo is probably paying them at least $10,000 a month to have 3DS content on their servers and I've only ever found 1 fully functional Nintendo Zone out of the 5 I've been to. McDonalds is the only place where Nintendo Zone works for me. I know NZ doesn't entirely have to do with the subject of retail games, but it's another case where stuff doesn't always work exactly as it should.
Square Enix probably just didn't put out that many discs, though. Alot of money is being spent on the eShop, so they figure you'll buy the game off of there if they don't have the disc and you still really want the game. I've never heard of anyone denying to buy a game, because there's no disc.

There's lots I could add to the subject, but I don't dare let myself open the floodgates at the moment...
However, regarding Human Revolution, I actually kind of regret getting the disc version. It's such an ideal digital game. Trust me, it will absorb you for days. Then once you beat it you'll doubtlessly fire it up again, right then and there on New Game+. After that play through you still won't be done because the dev commentary is fascinating and it's just the kind of game you'll want to come back to down the road. (I still play through the original Deus Ex and enjoy it more than 99.9% of modern FPS... Though I feel the same about many of the late nineties FPS classics--Half Life, Star siege: Tribes, Team Fortress Classic, Counter Strike, etc... Have any of them been yet outdone? Not in my eyes.)
I'm not gonna lie, given a proper eShop sale I will most likely just buy a second copy with little thought to feeding my kids... Whether I trade in the disc (rarely ever do this, it's a sham) or shove it between my bed cushions, it'll be worth it.
(Kidding about the kids, we do have walnut trees in our yard. They have strong teeth. Keeps em busy while I game. They're covered.)
I went to target for grins yesterday. I was thinking the same things. They had about 28 titles- but no COD Ghosts or Deus Ex. They did have Rayman, W101, Wii U Party, Dance 2014, Lego Undercover, Sonic & Mario, Sonic.... but then a bunch of old crappy games too and stupid Angry Birds.

Lately I've had a bit of a strategy when I get a new game. I look to see if there are cool pre-order bonuses and if there are I pre-order. If not then I wait for launch and go to the shop that has the best price (usually BigW) to see if they have it in stock. If they don't (which is most of the time) then I go to one of the main game retailers and ask them to price match. If I get to there and I can't get it because everyone is sold out or it's obscure enough to not exist I go online and download it.

I forgot about COD Ghosts, but you're right, I haven't seen it anywhere either. That's three new games, and two of them SHOULD be high profile. AC4, and COD. Yet you can't find them in stores. @skywake
Oh, I don't have a problem with downloading, that's why I bought a 2tb hard drive. I just think this problem is massive, and effects everything from system purchases, to third party support, and everything in between.
