"sega owns the ip"

I hoped that Nintendo had bought the franchise, and I thought that was the case. But it seems I was wrong.

Chapter 8-Ok yes, I am stretching this out so I don't finish both games ASAP.

It is technically the worse part of the game so far in terms of controls or whatever but I couldn't help but love it.

I loved that stage. I didn't even care about the controls it was so much fun.

I will say I think Bayonetta 1, at least on a single playthrough, is not as good as Wonderful 101. Other than maybe my own helplessness at fully understanding the combos (especially since I switch weapons a few times), I blame this entirely on the story. It's not Vanquish levels of "why am I watching this" because it's funny at times and there's memorable characters but once you get past the constant irony of it all, the plot is so not worth caring about to the point that it's just a giant waste of time, even by video game plot standards. I'm certain after I'm done, I'm never watching these scenes because they just take too long and I just want to play my video game.

And it's a shame because Wonderful 101 showed that they could make cutscenes and story that are compelling without changing their style at all. I still feel the need to see what the story's like for these games, even when I'd prefer skipping so I do consider this a problem, if not as big a one as if they weren't skippable in a game meant to be replayed.

But the actual everything else in this game is fantastic, as good as this type of game gets. And I'm not even a big button combo memorization guy, I haven't tolerated much of that since Soul Calibur 2 or whatever. But this game does such a great job where you can still win even if you don't memorize that much or semi-button mash. Perfect use of "easy to learn difficult to master" arguably.

I'm dreadful at these types of games. I played Bayonetta 1 on easy and still died a lot. I tried the first level (the graveyard) on normal, and got massacred. I got a stone medal.

Bayonetta 2 is still hard for me, but it is more forgiving, although I find myself using the same 2-3 combos. Unlocking different weapons helps, though. Even though I'm bad these games — always have been — I can say with confidence that Bayonetta 2 is still the best game on the Wii U, and is the best game I've played all year (including Smash).

So yeah, beat the first game a while ago. My point is exactly the same.

I'll get to 2 soon enough.

So far Bayonetta 2's story is at the very least more compelling than last time. "Here's a motivation, here's a mystery character, otherwise let's have fun!" It's still not great and the humor's still hit or miss for me but it so far isn't hurting anything either. Which is a big plus, the first game I felt would've straight up been a better game without half of the cutscenes, especially with how long some of them were.

I also like the bits of exploration. Even very simple exploration like this I find very enjoyable.

I'm sorry if this came up earlier in the thread, but has anyone else noticed how easy Bayonetta 2 is in contrast to the first? I played them both back-to-back on the "regular" difficulties, and holy cow - I was getting stone awards on almost every later chapter in Bayonetta 1, but in 2 I consistently got gold/platinum without breaking a sweat. Is it just from being "trained" in the game's mechanics after playing 1, or do most people consider the first to be objectively more difficult?

So EDGE Magazine has named Bayonetta 2 their Game of the Year.

I wasn't a massive fan of Bayo 1 last gen found it alright with some great momenta. Will Bayo 2 have a bigger impact on me?? I do have lower standards with third parties this gen...

Did anyone try to change the Wii U date setting? Bayonetta 2 already has a christmas theme going on, maybe it is some kind of unlock based on date like SEGA's Christmas Night.

Can't remember, lol...Never did play the original Okami. Just the port, I just remember something about Red Clover or something for the port, also different publishers. xD
