@jariw It's because Bayonetta 2 is one of the high profile games Nintendo has to offer and where Wii U is in a crysis of M rated games you'd have expected the Wii U gamers to Jump in and ofcourse because Wii U is doing Best in Japan.Your thoughts?
My thoughts:
To me, this is completely irrelevant.
I don't really care about sales figures. The released game will play no different to me, regarless if 0 or 2M players in Japan buy the game.
I don't care about the age rating of a game. I'm old enough to be able to play any game I want to play.
By looking at the sales charts for Wii U games, I can't draw any conclusion that a Wii U title automatically sells well in Japan.
All I really care about are good games and good gameplay experiences.

Yeah, Japanese gamers don't give a damn about any of that. This adolescent insecurity where gamers are afraid of being seen as childish if they play E-rated games is a very Western thing.
Even in that case, we are talking about arguably the best action game made so I don't see your point valid.Ofcourse if it didn't appeal the mass would be a different case but I thought action games were popular in Japan
If you don't think it's valid, why would you even bring it up?
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Actually going to the Tsutaya game rankings site confirms this, as the date range given is simply the week ending on the 21st of September, according to Chrome's auto-translate function.

But we are talking sales here, so you are on the wrong topic.
Didn't the original get a perfect score on Famitsu though? Anyway yeah points been iterated here before, Platinum games tend to do better in the West than in Japan.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

My point was either way the game is to be good (Assuming the successor to arguably the best action game is superior to it's predecessor) and has nothing to do with the ratings.
It's up against Destiny and Smash, they're both massive games. This isn't a surprise and it's certainly not proof that the game has "bombed". The only thing that would make it more impossible for a game to rank highly in the charts would be if it launched alongside GTA..........
Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

?
You're the one who said that the M-rating (D, actually...) should be a reason for people to buy the game. If someone disagrees with your opinion, you either counter or concede. Don't just move the goalposts and change your original argument. It's dishonest.
TBH this thread kind of reeks of trolling and "OLOLO Bayonetta 2 isn't number 1 on this one chart I found that only takes 2 days worth of sales into consideration at one retailer. #Bayonetta2Fail"

Haha ok (Coming from a dishonest man ) when you said "adolescent insecurity where gamers are afraid of being seen as childish if they play E-rated games is a very Western thing" I am simply replying to that saying that does not apply to bayonetta 2 beacuse either way I'm assuming it's destined to be a great game regardless of Ratings/sales or whatever "so why are the japanese Wii U gamers not picking up a great game" than ?

Haha It's my thread and I'm totally not trolling, just a lil worried u know
So you've looked at one chart which relates to one store has no actual sales numbers and thought it was worth making a thread about instead of just posting in the Bayonetta 2 thread, good job. smh
All I can say is these charts aren't far off the mark, due to the fact the retailer is the biggest store in Japan. I would say more but I fear this thread will be locked.
"They played us like a damn fiddle!" - MGS5
"Finish your mission, prove your loyalty." - MGS3
"We could take a s*** on you from such a height, you'd think God himself has crapped on you!" - GTA: SA
Currently Playing: The Phantom Pain.
This is from the first two days of the game on the market.
It ranked 5th in the specific retailer's charts.
Correct me if I'm wrong on any of these, just trying to understand it better. If these above points are in fact true, those aren't bad numbers. You have to remember to, Platinum doesn't run their games on huge budgets so they don't need to sell millions upon millions in order for this game to be considered a success.
