I just don't get why if people have a different opinion than your own they become idiots.

I really love being able to talk to Nintendo fans on this forum because out of all my mates I'm the only one who likes Nintendo, so if I want to talk about a game or console they have released this forum is the best place. There are so many members though who seem to literally be in love with the company though and can't take any bit of criticism towards Nintendo. Even if there is something that is opinionated universally bad, people will still defend it.

I like Nintendo a lot, and I'm a big fan of the company and the games they make. I'm also not blind to their faults and I admit they could do some things better. Some people are just too negative though. Maybe it's because I'm a positive person and I like looking on the bright side of things, but there are certain people who bug me with their overwhelmingly negative attitude.

Wii U is crap, can't handle 90% of modern game engines DEAL WITH IT! Modern Developers are using certain
game engines to develop their games like UT4, Frostbite 2,3 etc... Can't handle that? than it's a crap.

Wii U will be NINTENDO only console and that's horrible that's DISASTER.

Wii U has struck between two worlds

1. Wii uniqueness & awesomeness with very cool control gimicks and gameplay.
2. Elite Gamer world of PC, PS4, XBOX ONE.

Wii U does not belong to any of these worlds therefore it does not have any friends (customers). In fact it's a hybrid of both worlds which is the reason why its bad (currently). It's not unique as Wii (gamepad is crap) and it's not for Elite Gamers (so called!) cause it can't handle modern game engines.

Even Nintendo does not know where Wii U is heading. Is it Elite Console for gamers (as advertised by E3 2011 with EA partnership) or is it Wii succesor where Wii U should amuse us with Fancy Gamepad controls? I really don't know.

Having an opinion different than my own has nothing to do with it. There's opinions and opinions, and there's people and people. There are people who have very different opinions than my own but are able to interact in a civil manner and get intelligent thoughts across. Then there's people who just like to take the p*ss, trash talk and "simply parroting the laziest and weakest anti-Nintendo arguments that bounce around the net" [see first post].

But if that's their honest opinion then they shouldn't be labeled as an idiot for having it

@sinanziric: EA did backtrack and say Frostbite 3 could run on Wii U. The Wii U's hardware isn't crap, but it's architecture is rather different. The main reason developers claim it won't run is so that they won't have to spend time optimizing the engine to the hardware and then porting a game to an unsuccessful console. If the fate of the Wii U hinges exclusively on this year's holiday season. If Wii U sales jump enough, or at least maintain a decent margin above the X-One and PS4 for a few months, it's likely that developers will port the games. I'd say you're a bit uninformed, although I agree the Wii U isn't anywhere close to being in good condition. As for what you said about the Wii U's target audience, I generally agree. The main problem with the Wii U is that it doesn't target the PC, PS4, Xbox One, market, the Wii U only tries to target them, and fails miserably. The Wii U does surpass the PS360 in terms of capabilities, but the step is too gradual to get the attention of people who want cutting-edge, super capable gaming machines, it is not the engines the games are running on, or at least yet. As for the "casual" market, the Wii U is too intimidating. The vibe that Wii U games have is extremely odd. Many games shown off are not simple, but are not very complex either. Both markets are targeted, but neither is being appealed to. As a whole Nintendo has cut themselves in half, with each side trying to do very different things. Nothing much is accomplished.

Usually, if one's honest opinion is trite, lazy and weak , it means it's either not honest (some people - as well as a good number of journalists! - just tend to go with the flow) or simply unthoughtful.
My initial advice was just to be a wise gamer and try to understand what happens and why it happens.

I thought the point of the thread was how to deal with lazy and weak arguments - it's right there in the first paragraph. Why are you people so touchy?! It's not that I pointed to any of you in particular and said you're stupid.

I don't like the OP's attitude anymore than yours. This whole thread seems to be based on the idea that there's some adgenda against Nintendo, and somehow we have to educate the ignorant masses. In the end there are people who are ignorant to the facts. There always will be. And it's Nintendo's marketing departments' job to fix that, not ours. Even if it was, assuming those people are idiots is the absolute wrong way to go about it.

meh - would you deny that there has been a certain trend in giving Nintendo an unfair bad reputation in the last decade? I mean, the internet is full of people bashing Nintendo gratuitously and taking the p*ss without knowing what they are talking about...have a look on youtube for example. I have no problem calling the ruder, louder and more aggressive of these people "idiots" - their intelligence or amount of information at their disposal has nothing to do with it - an idiot is who behaves like one.
It's funny though, for us as consumers is perfectly legit to call idiots people who work at Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Capcom, Square Enix etc and wish they all get sacked for their unthoughtful decisions but it's sacrilegious to call other consumers idiots for their unthoughtful behaviour?!
I don't know how it works in the videogame world, but it's perfectly common parlance in the music world: if someone comes to you and says "ahah Paul McCartney is sh*te, he hasn't done anything decent outside The Beatles and he's doomed!! DOOMED!!" what do you say "Yeah, this guy has a valid point!"?? I mean, I don't even like Paul McCartney's solo stuff, but this is just taking the p*ss.
