So I'll most likely be getting a Wii U with my next paycheck, and as I'll be using a computer monitor for the video, I'll want to use AV cables connected to headphones for the audio. Therein lies the problem, as I have been looking for a way to connect component cables to a set of headphones. I bought a AV Y-splitter and a AV-to-3.5mm, Seen here . It didn't work well, really low volume ( I know I need an amp, though which one and all I don't have a clue) and it was only in the left ear.
What I want to know is, what would I need to get so I can play through HDMI and plug in my headphones into... Something that I can plug into the AV cables for audio? I'm also on a budget, so I can't afford something like a $100 amp when I'm just using it for a pair of $70 headphones.
My monitor has that problem, the audio that can come from the speakers (And when you plug a headset into it as well) sounds horrible. If that wasn't bad, I wouldn't mind using the output from the monitor, but it sounds so bad =/

Make sure the monitor supports limited range RGB.
Not sure about the audio.

Well, if your amp has the red and white A/V hookups, plug it into that. If the amp requires a headphone cable, then use the adapter. If you are getting audio from the cables in your picture, even though it is quiet, then all that is needed is an amp.

Would you happen to know of an amp that isn't that expensive that would do the job?

I don't, actually. That's why I just posted a link with a page full of them. The one that looks like an Altoids box looks ok. You would use your cable adapters and plug it into the in port, then plug your headphones into the out port.
Just look around and find one that is cheap and supports your headphones well enough.

The 2nd and 3rd one are the same. One looks like an Altoids box, the other one doesn't. The next range of cheap headphone amplifiers is in the $55-70 range, I think. EDIT: These are your best bet, as far as Amazon goes. All the other options are super expensive.
