I'm thinking of buying ACIV: Black Flag from the eShop, is on sale and it costs only 15€. Now, my question: is it worth to buy it or not? I've read some people saying it's kind of repetitive... I've never played any AC before, but I'd like to play an open world game on the Wii U.
Also, Splinter Cell costs 12€ only on Amazon! But ACIV is better, isn't it?
If you've never played AC before IV is the best point to get in. Itdoesn't deal as much with the whole desmond thing and many of the things that got added over the years are near perfection.

I bought it already. AC4 is an amazing Assassins Creed game, Splinter Cell is good but I own both and I am getting way from re-playability from AC4 perhaps because it is open world sandbox, where Splintercell is about mastering a level and scoring high. It is also a great game though.

I preferred Splinter Cell but that's as I've been a fan since the beginning. I've heard from many people that Black Flag is by far the best Assassin's Creed game and I haven't played it so I can't really give a useful opinion. However I'd be very careful about game file size, Black Flag is 14.2GB and Blacklist is 16.5GB so that's a huge amount of memory taken up unless you're using an external hard drive.
I bought ACIV a few months ago since I'd never played AC and I love pirates; I haven't finished it yet but I think it's quite cool. It may become a bit repetitive but I guess you won't regret buying it for only €15.
My only experience with the total franchise was the first one and I thought it was an overly touchy bug ridden nightmare. Cameras would spin and throw me off parapets to my death. Guards would 'see' me through solid walls when I didn't make a peep or pop into true human sight possibility, and all the added extra 'stuff' just felt tacked on and in the way with little to care for the rewards. It turned me off to it. Despite my love of history I ignored AC3 for whatever reason and this one as well.
I've never been much good at stealth games or sequences because I see ways of doing stuff that the coders with their tunnel vision goggles want done by the script or you auto-fail (or end up spotted and shot to death) in stuff like MGS, Splinter Cell, even that infuriating bit in Uncharted 2 at the museum.

Splinter Cell changed dramatically after Double Agent and Essentials, for the main story you can mostly easily survive (difficulty dependent) if you get spotted. If I recall correctly, there's only 1 part of a mission which is auto fail if get spotted.
I recently started AC 3 after a year of owning it and hardly ever playing it BC I didn't like it at first. Tried it again and have really enjoyed it. So, I picked up the fourth one for $16 on Amazon. Haven't played it yet but figures that was a good price.
I really enjoyed AC4. Probably the best AC game since AC2. I had like 40+ hours clocked on it. I'd recommend it.
It doesn't really touch all that much on the whole Desmond thing, so AC4 is a good jump on point for a new player.
Is this not one of the games that is particularly bad without Digital 4 Lyfe ? (If that is the case get it before the eshop update later today if you do want it).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
I'm hesitant. I liked the premise of AC, and bought 3 for the wii U. It kind of disappointed me - so much effort to make it look like the coat waved in the wind, such annoying characters and "walk-like-a-truck" controls. 4 sounds like fun though...
Is it worth it? I considered 3 very boring, extremely lineair and full of stuff I disliked - hunting rabbits, yay, look, more grass, yay, hey a battle where I literally chase a dot on the screen (and NOTHING ELSE). What I liked was the climbing and stunting and stealthy vibe. But having to climb a tree over and over? I'm very unsure of whether or not to buy this, after playing ac3...
Ac 4 is a way better and more perfected AC than 3 was. The carribean, open sea and no alliegence is really great. I've got it not too long agp and played it loads till MK8 DLC came around
