@DePapier I was trying to agree but until pikmin3 starts selling, wiiU is in a drought. I mean pikmin3 isn't really setting records. It came in second to Minecraft and narrowly beat out a 6 week old Last of Us. So let's not act like wiiU is out of a drought. It can still go either way
You have to remember the game released in Friday, with a digital promotion here in Europe.
The Wii U might not be out of a drought, but it is NOT in a drought: how else would people like me play the console EVERYDAY and STILL have games on hand???
Are you telling me I'm not playing Pikmin 3?
Are you telling me I'm not playing Earthbound?
Are you telling me I'm not enjoying Bit Trip Runner 2, Super Metroid, Nano Assault Neo, F-Zero?
Are you telling none of the retail games I actually own came out?
Please!!!
But back to the topic - they won't restock until they see demand. And when they see demand, we'll have a whole new headline to sensationalize. Back and forth, back and forth. Reminds me of EA lol
Guess what, when they actually do restock, it will be in utmost discretion.
Guys, it also says Walmart will stop carrying the Wii U...I think we have a Virtual Boy 2.0 on our hands (unless it lasts long enough for games to come out...)
This isn't a good sign...
OP said that. Not the actual article.
It ain't easy being cheesy...

@DePapier you may be playing all those games. But other than pikmin3 (& that remains to be seen) NONE of those games are console movers. Nintendo needs to move consoles. I think they will, but none of the games you mentioned move wiiU's. So it's in a console moving drought
This mentality is starting to really piss me off. If you wait for a "console mover" to buy the console, fine. But don't neglect the fact that millions are actually enjoying it.
Software sells hardware. But if you're uninterested in the console in the first place, don't blame it on the console, do so on your own refuse to play.
"Console movers..." "Nintendo needs to sell..." Are we actually Nintendo executives?! Do we have any ideas how they actually run this company when they've been in the biz for more than 30 years?!
I'm sick of all those people claiming they have power because they're not buying: that's your problem, STOP making it seem as if the machine itself is creating such issues. I'll await the likes of you on Smash U when all of a sudden you'll have found your "console mover" and when all of a sudden you start understanding why so many people enjoying the Wii U do not regret their purchase one bite.

Then you have people like me. Who last used the Wii U 3-4 months ago. The last game I bought for the Wii U was COD BLOPS 2 BACK IN DECEMBER!!!!!
I would of bought some 3rd party titles for the Wii U. But most of them where shoddy ports.
I don't want to sell the Wii U as I probably wouldn't even get £150 back for it so its not worth it. I want Nintendo to do well. I can honestly say the next Wii U game I will be is most likely the new Mario Kart. Or maybe if some of the 3rd party titles I have not got around to playing just yet come down in price like Walking Dead then I will buy it for the wii u.
@ocelot20 You're definitely not the kind I see on Miiverse. I can't help but wonder how people could pay 350 for a console and not even turn it on 1 time a month to buy and play at least a 30-cent VC game...
No, for real, that's just insane. I already saw a few people change their attitude from what it was in February, I guess some still need some wait-and-see. If you guys want to wait for the wave of big Nintendo games to come out, that's totally understandable. But don't be saying dumb stuff on the console when my example and like I said millions of others, can show you wrong.
You don't wanna play, fine. I don't care; Nintendo does, not me. But don't act as if some of us aren't playing.
@DePapier Yeah I know mate, it would be like me getting the PSOne at launch (PS4 AU$548, XBone AU$598) and I don't like what I see with their launch titles... Just the same old boring crap I can get from a bargain bin for $5
Here's the thing. ASDA probably makes up at most 2% of all Wii U sales in the UK. Them suspending their stock of Wii U simply means people that wanted one will have to look elsewhere. Other stores exist that will have them, and will do business with you.
This is nothing to be worried about. Now, if this set off a chain reaction of other stores doing the same, then it would be a problem. For now, this is simply material for trolls to try and scare people away from Wii U, making it look worse than it actually is

Thank the Lord for some support. Now if you'll excuse me — since I too need to frustrate those who don't own in the way they frustrate those who do --, I need to finish that Pikmin 3 puzzle tonight: since it looks cool to hate, I see don't why some can't have the swag to enjoy.

to be honest, this step probably means that people were already looking elsewhere if they wanted one :3

Well if I'm so wrong about nintendo not having the games THUS FAR to move WiiU's to their own projections, then please enlighten me with why they're not moving consoles to their satisfaction.
Pikmin 3 is the main system seller for the console as far as I can see so far. If I didn't already own a Wii U I would be seriously considering getting one for Pikmin 3. And that's from me, a person who complained on these forums after E3 last year because the biggest game "at launch" was Pikmin 3. Just look at these weekly sales of the Wii U in Japan:
You can't sell a system without the games, the Wii U lacked the games, Pikmin 3 is one such game. How long it can continue to move units and whether it'll do as well in the US is anyone's guess. However it is moving units and it is fantastic so there isn't much reason to keep saying there is still a "Wii U drought"

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

To be honest, the shoddy advertising does play a big role. When people don't even know your console has been released, that's a big problem. Obviously this doesn't apply to forum-goers like us, but lots and lots of consumers out there don't even know the Wii U is released or don't even know it's different from their Wii they already have at home. That's a big problem. You can bet your bottom dollar EVERYONE will know the exact days Xbone and PS4 release - not only will it be all over the internet, but they'll be running ads non-stop on TV and in magazines/newspapers.
As I said before, Nintendo needs to play up the Wind Waker remake by offering it in a bundle and making it HIGHLY advertised and visible - they need to "relaunch" the Wii U alongside the PS4/Xbone, even as a secondary console for most.
In Australia Myer stopped selling all video games a while back. They said they were not making any money off any of them. The only real places to find video game is JB HI FI and EB Games and maybe Target. Video games are getting increasingly expensive. Close to and above in some cases $100. It makes sense that they might be loosing money on them because the higher the price goes for all games the less people will buy them. What I'm saying is this does not mean the "end" for Nintendo. It's just one store. In Australia we do not even have GAME they went out of business. Nintendo will be okay.
@atlantis01 Too bloody right! with competitive internet seller prices and digital downloads increasing yearly then most of these brick & mortar stores will be on the way out like we are already witnessing... The PS360 and preowned market didn't save GAME in the end after all
When all of the consoles have a digital distribution model where prices are at RRP nobody can really get away with selling it at above RRP anymore. Even harder when everyone can easily check the prices at various stores and the digital releases at the time of purchase. I think the fact that the most expensive game I got was Super International Cricket (SNES) in a Toy Store during mid 90s for $110AU says something. Especially when that Toy Store doesn't sell games anymore and the other day I paid $68AU for Pikmin 3.
So the "not a huge margin on games anymore" argument is a valid one. Probably something that makes it very, very easy for a store to dump the idea when a console is doing well let alone something that has questions surrounding it.
ASDA is actually one of the biggest retailers for video games in the UK (and one the biggest supermarkets).
Even in the modest sized town that I live in, ASDA has a massive midnight queue for the latest FIFA and CoD releases each year. It's like that across the country too.
Does that mean it's game over for Nintendo in the UK? Nope, but having a hundred less stores selling their games is still a big loss for them.
As far as I'm aware, they're still stocking WiiU and games on their online store at least.
