Sorry guys, I know there was something posted about Kmart in Oz discounting the Wii U in a recent catalogue but Search only gave me news articles, hence this new topic.
In Western Australia, I haven't seen the Kmart catalogue with the reported discounted Wii U sets through junk-mail or on the internet.
However, BigW have released a catalogue titled "Your entertainment gift guide" covering the period Nov 29th to Dec 5th- it's one of those with an upside-down back-cover and that back-cover has the Deluxe set advertised for AU$418.00. Page 22 has the details.
Worth grabbing a hold of either the Kmart or BigW catalogue if, like me, you pre-ordered through EB Games because they will price match consoles and games but you have to take the catalogue as proof.
Haven't seen anything from JB HiFi yet - they usually go for EB's throat...

I went to investigate my local Kmart today... Walking around the store there were absolutely no signs of the Wii U's existance, and when I finally asked the staff member he informed me that they haven't received their stock yet and that they don't know how much it'll be when they eventually get it.
But yes, the catalogue does advertise it at $379 for the premium.
Also worth noting that all the games are a bit cheaper at both than at EB, so if you plan to buy quite a few games like me then there's quite a bit to be saved by price matching.
All the games I've bought at EB are $78, with the exception of ZombiU which is $88 (with a preorder bonus pen).
At JB they're all $69 and ZombiU is $79 (all $9 cheaper).
At Kmart (according to the catalogue) all the games I've preordered, including ZombiU, are $69.
Well my darling wife just came in asking me how much tBigW had the Wii U for as she found the Kmart catalogue.
The facepalm moment then came as I realised that I was searching too hard because the Kmart 'The Big Book of Christma Cheer' catalogue was the one I'd looked in on Sunday night and managed to fail finding any Wii U refetence, in spite of directions - yes, I did a Homer... LOL!
Note to self - must type slower on the tablet else I will post strange typos...
It might be worth arming yourself with all catalogues because the BigW titles are $58 and $69 respectively, the latter group including ZombiU
@Schprocket I looked through the catalogues on their website a few days ago too and was unable to find anything about the Wii U, so I think it might have just been uploaded there in the last couple of days or something... unless somehow we both just missed it.
Pretty sure there was just two catalogues there when I checked last time but there's three now.
I have way too much cash so I'm gonna support EB with my purchase... Even though I have mine preordered at both Big W ($10 deposit) EB (fully paid for with ZombiU) when I went back to BW nobody had a clue about anything and a $10 deposit probably wasn't gonna guarantee getting it at launch so I believe I have made the better choice. I don't want to see EB go under like GAME
Vooks' site has a sort of running commentary about the Aussie deal updates - if you haven't ordered yet BigW have the Premium for $358 using a code for an online order promo but the clincher would be if shipping was free. http://www.vooks.net/wii-u-buyers-guide-wii-u-pre-order-deals/
@MadAussieBloke my wife complains that I act as if I have more cash than sense - normally I'd be justifying the cost differential. That said, I wouldn't want to see EB go under either since between them and JB, they are the only option when it comes to having a wide selection for any platform, unlike KFart and co. - there are only so many games that end with "z" yet those buggers always seem to have that market - and only that market - covered.

@Schprocket Yeah you know somethings wrong when you check the games at Big Willy & K Fart and see 50 copies of 'Barbies: Lets Ride Horsez' and find 1 copy of something good (if your lucky) behind 100 'Ben 10 Vs The Gargetrons'
I havent been able to keep up with all the changing pre-order deals this week and consequently I made a giant mess of my pre-order. Originally I pre-orderded at JB for $429 then saw BIG W advertise a $10 discount and combined it with a $19 gift card I had to get it for $399. The next day JB lowered their price to $399 so I had to cancel the BIG W order (which I havent got refunded yet) and I kept the JB order which was posted today. Now I've looked at it tonight and you can get it as low as $358 at BIG W! So I'm pretty mad now. Next time I'm not pre-ordering and just wait until they stop changing their minds.

Don't get mad, get even.
Pre-order at EB Games next time and ask about price-matching if they don't tell you before you opt to place the pre-order (the team in Perth EBG are pretty good at being up front with your options) then make sure you catch every catalogue with a competitive price on paper and take it with you to get the match when it's time to pick-up the pre-order.
Saves the flap with variety stores whose business isn't selling a wide-range of 'niche' products.

It's good advice but sadly I live an hour away from all the major stores (Target Country doesn't qualify ) so my only option is to pre-order online and as far as I know EB online doesnt price match. I was considering buying from EB Games as they are the only one to offer express post and so my only chance of getting it day 1 lies with them but since they charge $30 for it (on top of the RRP) I went with a cheaper alternative even if delivery will take a week.

Bummer mate
As I typed, I wondered how close to the city you were... I s'pose I'm lucky in that I've started working in town so I can walk past the store every day if I wanted to...

Woohoo!
I got to EB in Hay Street early and nobody else was around so I got the first pre-ordered Wii U out of the shop
The guys had no dramas with the price-match - all too easy taking the catalogues in - and even after paying of Sonic I had 44 bux left so that went on ZombU.
Currently out shopping with the eldest bloke whilst the update is downloading.
Oh yeah, on the way home I drove down Johnson Road through Bertram and my son spotted a bloke walking down with a Deluxe box - if that guy's on this forum then yes the sound you heard through your headphones was us beeping you from the yellow blur of Swift that zoomed past
So what's first BLOPS2, Nintyland, Sonic, or ZomByoo ?????
Will update sig with network id when I've sorted out the update - Cheers!!!!!!
