Also, can't steam boxes be modified anyway?

I've already said it's his choice several times. And yes they can be upgraded as they are pretty much just PCs, and it costs the same as it would on any other pc.

Then let's steer away from egging them too much next time.

OK OK OK guys, your just making him mad now and when it gets to that point any type of relevant and factual discussion goes right out the door and it then starts to sound like nothing but attacks. Leave him alone, he stated what he wants, its his choice so let him be. We don't have any say whatsoever with what he buys. I know from what I've been reading it does sound like your trying to help and save him time and money. It is though starting to sound like your telling him his decision is a stupid one. He told you what system he was going to be getting to go along side his Wii U and by doing so he did in fact answer the very topic of this thread.

I personally have thought about getting a Steam Machine. I did however state that I couldn't justify spending money on something like that if I couldn't pick and choose what I wanted in it so I have chosen to build a gaming computer and its going to take some time saving up the money. I build computers and know my fair share amount about computers so I know what I want and its probably going to cost in the ball park of 2000 so I got a bit of saving lol.... I'm thinking about selling my liver if anyone is in the market.

It's up to you whether you want Steam Box or not. It's the same way I feel about people who like PS4. Go ahead and enjoy if you want.

Like you said, you'd want to have a Steam Box, regardless of its capabilities, so there's no reason to compare it to anything else, which is why commenting on people's PC comparison and saying you KNOW it's better than anything isn't exactly warranted.

EDIT: I think a PC is better, and I think home consoles are even better than that, but no one should care.

I'll wait until summer 2014 to see where the Wii U stands then. If it's delivering enough content by then then I'll be content with it being my sole console. If not I'll get a PS4.

It still blows my mind that neither the Mario bundle nor the Skylanders bundle have caused increased sales.

No one has the right to say this, right here. You do realize you're contradicting yourself by saying specs don't matter, but then citing specs on a particular machine, superior, right?

I couldn't really care less about PC or Steam Box. Hell, I'd rather have a PS4 than either of those, but that gives me no right to say that Wii U or Xbox One are superior(my consoles of choice).

Get the games, give up the specs.

It sounds like sales have been increasing steadily since the price drop, but most notably in Nov./Dec......

Thank you. More than anything I like what it stands for. It represents what gaming used to be and should still be, as opposed to online paywalls and subscriptions

i thought this was funny, because i actually do only own a WiiU. despite the obvious trolling in the video (from a ps fanboy's channel, go and see), i'm having a great time. i've only got pikmin 3, wwhd, and sm3dw. these games are great, and if nintendo has something for me to be playing, i'm up for it.

@JaxonH: Sorry if it seemed like It came off like I was telling you want to buy. I am just trying to figure out why people are so hung up on a steam machine when they can practically get one right now that's all. I honestly hope it works out for people like you but in all honestly I think it will just become like the Ouya and it will be a niche market. But hey we will see.

You just made my point for me. I said I'm not a graphics craze, I just wna pay the games. And I didn't mean it is superior, I meant its power is superior (which it is, that's a proven fact not an opinion). By no means do I think its a superior gaming machine tho. In my personal opinion, Wii U is my favorite console I've ever owned. That statement was in response to someone telling me I shouldn't buy one because it'll be no where near the PS4.

Graphics actually DO matter to me, but only to the extent that they are not so primitive they take away from the experience. And in my opinion, Wii U is past the threshold of graphics mattering anymore. So my point was, that the Steam Machine is more powerful than Wii U, and if I'm happy with Wii U, then I'll DEFINITELY be ok with Steam Machine. I even said, "I don't care if it's only on par with Wii U, I just want to play the games".

It also depends on what you define as power. I would consider Steam Box a "weak" machine, but not based on numbers.

Graphics do matter to me, too, but I don't believe that can always be determined by a number, especially if numbers mean different things in comparison to one another.

Sometimes specs can't be compared, so you're better off not doing so. If you look at the hardware resource use for each console on a game like Project Cars, all of them are using different numbers for the same result.

Understood. But I do know what graphics card the iBuyPower Steam Machine is using, and I did my homework and also chatted with some PC gamers to get an idea of where that machine will stand. All of them said pretty much the same thing. It'll be right at or under the Xbox One, but if you upgraded to the next card up it would put it over the PS4. That's all I needed to know was a ballpark estimate.

If that's what you think, then fine. It depends on what "over the PS4" specifically means, if you ask me. People can hardly figure out what to do with what they already have, so I'm not worried about it.

Im sticking whit only the wii U this gen, and the 3ds for handhelds (might get a vita if things improve), you see i not a fan of the road the gaming industry is embracing at the moment, micro transactios, releasing buggy games then parching them several times, excesive unjustified DLC, i feel nintendo its the only way to go this gen because they dont do those things (at least not a lot). and of course the first party titles.

migth get a ps4 way in the future like three or more years for KH3 and Uncharted 4 (love this series)

I play all the new multiplatform games on PS4 such as COD, BF4, AC4, NBA 2k14 etc..... the hardware is incredible, but the Wii U exclusive titles are fantastic, LOVE MONSTER HUNTER 3 ULTIMATE, and wife and kids are totally into Mario

Good choice on a main system. I know some people a diehard Xbone fans but I'd have to say Sony did an excellent job at making a console that can do the online entertainment tying too but still keep its main focus of being a gaming system. I give Nintendo credit for that too even though they don't focus too much on the online entertainment side of thing as much as the other two but the option is still there. Xbone to me is trying to do something good but its feels like they are moving away from the reason they are Xbox which is gaming. I mean Smart TVs nowadays pretty much do everything you need. Couple that with a blue ray player and there you go, Xbone.
