Topic: anyone else think MiiVerse is annoying?

people harp on about how great it is, but honestly, i can't see why its so popular. nearly every experience i've had on it, i've seen nothing other than Nintendo-worshipping sheep. it really is impossible to have interesting conversation with anyone because every community is full of praise for the game. and i realize that the communities aren't made for interesting conversation, they're for discussing the game, but its hard to critique anything without a thousand fanboys flooding my notifications and sending me hate mail.

i also don't really like how nintendo is handling MiiVerse in their games. in WindWakerHD, you can find tingle bottles with MiiVerse messages, but they're ALWAYS pointless and stupid messages that i had no reason to pick up. either that or its a bunch of male genitalia on my screen. its the EXACT same case with NSMBU and SM3DW, where i receive pointless messages from MiiVerse at the end of a level, such as, "That level was HARD!" or "I did it on my first try!" honestly, i couldn't give a flying turd about whether or not you did it on your first try. i also usually get messages like "best game evar" or "i love this game! so much fun!" honestly, most of the MiiVerse comments are pointless and a stupid waste of my time, and i don't feel good having nintendo implement MiiVerse into ALL of their titles. i could make a book of just MiiVerse posts, and i'd call it "crap no one cares about."

wow, i just got really heated, i'd better calm down. but is it just me, because i'm pretty sure it is. i dont think anyone else thinks MiiVerse is annoying, but i had to get this off my chest.

blue, blue.

It's not really annoying to me, but it is quite boring to read through it because of the reasons you said. There's never any interesting conversation in there.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Well, I'm having fun 'cause I'm off in my own little world, not browsing the communities; I'm just making my own posts (and drawings) and reading my friends'... it's a fun, happy little world of my own...

I don't really care for Miiverse either. I could see it being useful if I had Wii U friends, but otherwise it's somewhat pointless. Also, I don't count random online players as potential Wii U friends. If I don't know you in real life, I'm not exchanging FCs or NNIDs with you.

So ya, I don't really post on Miiverse. I only look on, but never try to engage in conversation.

i remember i saw one post on the SM3DW community that said, "nintendo should make a whole game out of the Captain Toad levels!" because nothing is funner than moving at a snails pace without jumping.

It's just better to leave those sorts of things alone. It happens more than you think. What you're criticising about Miiverse isn't exclusive to Miiverse.

thats usually what i do is leave those sorts of things alone, but things like that are more abundant on MiiVerse than anywhere else i can think of. i have never seen anyone on this website say something like that, lol.

So far the posts on the Tingle bottles i find are kinda dumb and pointless.

i dont look forward to reading them, but i always want to pick them up when i see them because the bottles are so small and shiny. the shiny-ness lures me into them. in an ideal world, peopel would use the tingle bottles to explain tips or tricks or something that would make them interesting to read, but most of the time its just uninteresting or boring MiiVerse posts.

Trust me, it happens EVERYWHERE. The "doom" attitude is very much the same thing.

I see what you mean, but I disagree. I knew right from the start that Miiverse was going to be moderated as hell, and it wouldn't be the place to go if I wanted to seriously discuss about a game. Miiverse is there for simple, silly interactions between the console owners. Kinda like a forum seen through rose-tinted glasses. We all know Nintendo is going for a family-friendly friendly approach, they expect people from 40-year-olds to 4-year-olds to use their systems, so they have to accommodate general online interactions to be safe for kids. Say what you want, but I think it's better to regulate any kind of offensive or rude behavior, than completely ignoring it and let people roam free (see: internet).

Last week I was playing Super Mario 3D World with a friend and we were laughing our butts off with some of the ridiculous posts scrolling on the screen after each level. When I play Wind Waker I like to get every Tingle Bottle I see to know what people are sharing (or specifically in this case, to see if there's a pictograph I can use for the gallery). Scrolling through unusual screenshots, great drawings, a couple jokes; sure, there's a lot of posts clearly written by 6-year-olds, but it's still fun to see what every other player is saying about a game I'm enjoying.

Next time you get a game you like and it has a small miiverse community, there'll be some good posts there. Once you're following a few good posters your activity feed will be gold every day. If you make good posts, you can definitely get some critical discussion started (and you can delete the replies of any 'sheep.')

I really liked the Mario 3D World Miiverse integration. Each level has it's own community so you can look up secrets whenever you want. "Beat it on 1st try" usually isn't interesting, but if you struggle on a level and see someone else mention it's a hard level then it makes all the rage justified. It's also really easy to give yeahs or comments to posts, but unfortunately the better features of miiverse aren't popular ones.

In all fairness, I could do the same with your posts. Don't like Miiverse? Well, guess what? It's optional.

I think there are a lot of idiots there. I also think the moderators are over zealous. My cousin made a post in the Blacklist community that said "headshot!" and it got taken down for being "too mature".

Stuff like this happens on any social media site. And while I have seen what you talk about, I don't see it as much as you describe. Either you're unlucky, or you're exaggerating. I've given some criticism to some of the fanboys you described and received little backlash except from the fanboy who I corrected. In fact, most people agreed with me. Sure, there are idiots, and the moderators are sometimes a bit too strict, but it's not that bad, at least when I use it. Plus, it's optional.

Love it. What's more, I find it useful as all get out in 3D World. When I can't find a star, or a stamp, I always see a post at the end of the level mentioning the item I myself missed. Sometimes I hit 'comment' just to see the location, sometimes I ignore it. I really like having the option.

It's like with any social media. The vast bulk of people are talking about things that won't interest you and in a tone that you'll not understand. If you go on a random public sub-thread it'll be full of people who are really, really into it one way or another. Especially on a service like MiiVerse where investment in a particular brand of hardware is a requirement.

To make the most of it follow people you do find that are interesting. Friends, Family, Celebrities you want to hear from, developers or just random people you find that are producing interesting content. On MiiVerse in particular there are plenty of artists who create awesome drawings. If you don't like what someone is posting just ignore it and move on. Much better than getting worked up about it to the point that you feel the need to create a thread for it on another fan community...

Miiverse is honestly one of the best experiences I've had with social media like it. Not entirely sure how much of that is Miiverse being good and how much is nearly every other example being completely awful.
