I thought it would be a good idea so I did a wii to wii u system system transfer. Turns out, the only reason we got the Wii U is so someone could play the Wii and the Wii U at the same time. Is there any way to transfer the data back through the SD card or by some other means?
It is impossible but you can transfer back the majority of save files AFAIK. Given most of the games you'll want to play are disk based this should basically solve your problem. I mean you still have a Wii and Wii U so you can still do what you are wanting. It's not like the Wii is now dead post-transfer, it still works.
