Even if Sony didn't have lackluster IPs, the same controller for the past four consoles (how is Nintendo being accused of not being innovative yet Sony gets off scott free?) and a cocky arrogant attitude towards its competitors, I STILL wouldn't by a PS4 because as we all know, it's bound to be overpriced. My wallet couldn't take it anyway.

They changed the controller this time around. I know others have made the same complaints you have, and I just don't understand it, they only spent a half an hour emphasising the thing. Also, thank you Nintendo for making people focus on the controller when it comes to innovation instead of something worthwhile. It's called "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", damnit. >_<

By adding a share button you mean? Making the handles smoother? A small touchpad that probably wont be used for many things? I don't think so. It's the same controller. And if you're going to argue the "if it ain't broke dont fix it" argument, then nobody fits that mantra better than Nintendo. SMB 3 and SMW are as perfect as side scrollers as you can get out of a video game, but even those get old after awhile and should be changed every now and again to make it fresh again. Video games should be treated like art, and designed differently every time. If you're going to keep re-releasing the same console over and over with only a few new bells and whistles added in and improved graphics, then why release a console in the first place? I know many will disagree with me on this, and that's fine -we as gamers should have different tastes and opinions- but I just don't think Sony should be where they are right now in the video game industry. They're not innovative and the arrogance and condescending remarks they throw at Nintendo for trying to be different is why I dislike them so much.

Simply put: I do NOT like Sony. But that's just my opinion.

Sony showed off more footage of triple A first-party titles at their reveal than Nintendo has since they announced the Wii U. The signs point to the PS4 not having nearly as of a much if a drought right now.

Currently playing: Sacred Gold, Valkria Chronicles, Rune Factory 4, 007 Blood Stone, and Uncharted 3.

For some reason innovation seems to be more about the controller than games these days.

Those are pretty significant changes, dude. Just because they don't pull a Nintendo and reinvent every controller they make even though they only get it right every other time doesn't mean that those charges don't make it a different controller. Changes to something like a controller should be subtle and precise, not grand and over ambitious. It needs to comfortable, and accommodate for what they're trying to do. These changes work towards that.

Maybe but a single delay or 2 could kill that. Or ports of 360/PS3 games not selling. Shockingly, I think there's a really good chance of that happening (maybe not quite as much as Wii U, but still very likely)

That's because you can do more with a better controller.
Wii U is bound to get tons of games PS4 and Xbox∞ won't, because of the GamePad controller.
PS4 and Xbox∞ will obviously get games Wii U won't(which is why I'm getting an Xbox), but they all have their place.
I'm getting an Xbox over PS, because it will still have more possible games because of other hardware involved. Xbox will have Kinect, and will still be able to play all the PS4 games with a regular controller.
From my perspective, PS4 will be the most behind hardware wise.

I'll just say: I simply disagree with that statement. And I believe Changes should always be grand. A strive towards a different experience. I personally have never thought a Nintendo controller "didnt work". Sure some ideas are better than others but all controllers that Nintendo has put out up to this point have been good. Especially the Gamecube controller which I think is vastly underrated.

I've got zero interest in the console itself and zero interest in Sony's exclusives. My interest may peak once the Resident Evil Reboot or an exclusive Mega Man gets released. Capcom is the only 3rd party developer i have my eye on seeing as how Konami butchered the Silent Hill and Castlevania franchise by outsourcing their franchises to crappy western devs. Either way I still wouldn't buy one just for a few games, nor do i want another console in this video game jungle that we currently live in. I hardly even touched my PS3, and if it's anything like the PS3 which it most likely will be than i fear the same scenario will happen all over again. Same thing happened when i had the XBOX 360.

Besides, take a look at what i already have to deal with. :p WiiU, WiiU Ware, WiiU VC, Wii, WiiWare, WiiVC, 3DS, 3DSWare, 3DS VC, and Retro consisting of NES, SNES, GBA and even the DS.... is more than enough and super overwhelming as it is for this radical dudeskie!

@Guitardude7 The size of change should always scale according to the necesseity of the change. If they have something that works before and works towards their current goal, why change it significantly? Because when you do, you get the Gamecube controller: A clunky machine full of poorly-excecuted ideas that changed things fore the sake of making change, and most importantly didn't work for what they were trying to do, and forced their own developers to utilize archaic control schemes to accommodate for it.

If you make small changes, you can learn more about what's the right thing to change and what's not, and you can gradually learn to make new experiences using those changes. Otherwise, you get the Wii, where too much was changed and people didn't know what to do with it. And you know what, people may not know what to do with the motion controls and the touch pad right now. But they may learn to incorperate it over time. That's why the Wii U controller kind of works, too. It has standard controls that people already know how to use, in addition to new features that people will gradually learn how to make good use of.

To summize - The PS4 is a new controller, in that it has new features that people will have to learn how to make use of. That alone makes it new, whether you're willing to believe it or not. Their changes are small compared to Nintendo's controllers, but if anything, that simply makes their changes more intelligent, since they've been properly scaled for the situation. They don't need massive changes, so that's why there aren't any. They're perfecting a good design, and adapting it to their needs, instead of making changes for the sake of being different.

Darnit, I didn't edit it right before. :( I was just taking a jab at the Kinect anyways, don't worry about it.

Hey just an opinion. Personally, I think the GCN controller is the best controller Nintendo has made thus far. It's super comfortable. I dont see anything clunky about it. The PS4 controller should've been much different this time because it's OLD. Four consoles old to be exact. small changes are NOT innovative. And personally, I hate Sonys controllers. They cramp my hands and the button layout is quite ridiculous. I was never able to get used to the thumbsticks being BELOW the buttons. it just feel unnatural.

And I think developers were simply being lazy. There are so many things they could've done with the Wiimote and didnt. The Wii U Gamepad is better though because its layout does work better than the Wii but that doesnt mean the Wii was bad. Developers were and still are lazy because nobody feels like being imaginative when designing games anymore. Developers are still under using the Wii U Gamepad and its several possibilities and abilities because companies like Sony keep insisting on giving them the same old thing. Theyre not evolving like they should be.

I dont think the Playstation controller is good design. It's ok, not unplayable by any means by I certainly think its far from being a good design. For me, it's not. and I still don't think that controller is anything new.

Also I'm curious: how much do you think the PS4 is going to be? And how much are you willing to pay for it?

Thumb rubbing games?

Sorry. Seriously though, have you seen 'Witness'? It's quite clear from the videos how the touch pad can be used. I'm not convinced that the new controller will make gameplay more fun.

The PSN network looks nice lately where they give you a lot of free games included with service for the cheap monthly fees.

Nintendo charges you $8 for games they released in the 1980s and 90s with nothing new added on them even. They are losing so many publishers that the Wii U might not have enough games to keep real gamers entertained.

I want an MMORPG on my console for sure to play relaxing and not on the PC. I know FFXIV remake will be on PS3 and probably on Ps4 also. They also have many games where you can play online multiplayer which I love to compete against others. Nintendo has very few of these kinds of games.

I am not decided yet, but the longer Wii U keeps going with no good games, the more i will think about returning to Sony consoles as well. I always used to buy each one. This time I decided on WII U and so far I don't think its worth it if you only pick 1.
