Topic: Animal Crossing Plaza the start of something else?

Posts 1 to 20 of 21

After watching the Nintendo Direct part of me wonders if this is the start of something bigger and this is essentially a tech demo we are getting.

As to what that "bigger" thing is i have no idea. But i can see two different ways if it does go somewhere else:

I can see it either being the future of the Mii Plaza/Miiverse for the Wii U , each game would have its own little version of this which you can download.

Or

Its the future of animal crossing, where it becomes some sort of strange version of Playstation Home

thoughts?

Don't worry. the Animal Crossing series is selling too well to change this much.
As for the future of Miiverse, that could be pretty cool. I'm not sure how it would work with other games, but if they could make it work, that would be great!

Nintendo should have it so that we can set this as the default wara plaza.

I agree, it's much more nice to look at as well.

I'd like to see a Wonderful 101 version of this. There's a lot of different heroes, so I'd like to see them up close like the villagers and post about my favorite ones.

Yeah, I'd like to see the Mii's walking around the Animal Crossing Plaza rather than the white and empty WaraWara Plaza. Heck, they should make all kinds of different skins based on games for the plaza! I'd certainly buy some.

I'm thinking they should just make Wara Wara Themes similar to Playstation 3 Themes

You know what, though, I think the OP's second possibility is extremely interesting. For Animal Crossing to morph into Nintendo's version of your "home" base or dashboard would definitely be the most interesting and intriguing dashboard out of the all the major consoles. Of course, not everyone likes Animal Crossing, so I don't know how realistic it would be to go that route.

Then they could give each Wii U user an area to customize which we can stick objects enemies and obstacles in. After that we can do a FindMii sort of game where we go through a bunch of randomly selected user's rooms. All to the selected theme (AC, Metroid, Zelda etc.)

Could be fun.

I think the AC Plaza is just giving an idea on how they can incorporate both their platforms with Miiverse.
Same thing with Mario Kart TV and making your own special communities. They want people to share Nintendo videos, pics, gameplay, and customize your own part of the network.

So yes, I think this is just giving insight to what's in store.

I'd like to see one for Fire Emblem Awakening. Imagine they update the game and add the possibilities not only to save character profiles (with stats and techniques), but also to share fight videos to brag for example on how my Lon'zu chained an "Initiative"-Lethality-Critical against his opponent.

I think they would have a 3DS Miiverse in place before that happened. They aren't going to tie Miiverse exclusively to the Wii U(excluding 3DS) if they plan on incorporating 3DS software.

3DS Miiverse is looking more and more obvious right about now if you ask me. I just wonder how it would all work, because 3DS owners posting on the Wii U communities and vice versa doesn't sound too appealing unless you can have filters like they already do(for owners of the game) and the NNID link between systems confirming you have a both systems.

The 3DS OS would have to be just as overhauled as the Wii U's if they expect to do all that stuff. There's alot of multitasking going on inside the machines to have access to other parts of the machine simultaneously without a hitch.

I've played it for at least 40 hours. The point is to improve your town, collect things, create designs, and just do random stuff.

Nintendo said it will end in the end of 2014, Does it mean they are working on a Wii U Animal Crossing behind closed doors of which it will release in that time frame?

I'd think it's a way to say the Plaza is only a try and is meant to be enjoyed now and it's time frame expanded indefinitely if it does prove to be fruitful, kind of like the way I see it for the Digital Deluxe Promotion. But I honestly don't have any idea, not even something close to a hunch.

The 3DS OS would have to be just as overhauled as the Wii U's if they expect to do all that stuff. There's alot of multitasking going on inside the machines to have access to other parts of the machine simultaneously without a hitch.

At first I started thinking Nintendo will only release the 3DS Miiverse to Wii U owners through the use of their Wii U NNID on their 3DS. The reason for this was that the 3DS has currently 10 times the install base of the Wii U, and were Miiverse which originated on the U be so starkly dominated by 3DS owners, the experience and atmosphere would no longer be the same.
(Think of it this way: even here at Nintendo Life, among a majority of Nintendo fans, we're still dealing with anti-Wii U sentiment as Wii U owners are a minority, and it's harder to troll when owning a Wii U and a 3DS than it would be owning a 3DS and no Wii U.)

The way I see it, Nintendo can leverage Miiverse to attract 3DS owners to the Wii U through it, and the Animal Crossing Plaza is one great way to that: bolstering the 3DS experience through the Wii U.

I now think Nintendo will release a really simple version of Miiverse on the 3DS which won't require any NNID and which will use 3DS owners' Miis and Miis' names to allow them to post freshly captured screenshots (those seen from a game in the background when pressing Home) and to make text- and drawing-based posts and comments on game communities. Yet I think they'll only let 3DS Miiversers have access to 3DS communities unless for those 3DS owners who have registered their 3DS under a Wii U's NNID. But I think all the other functions of Miiverse, especially those that require a NNID — Miiverse on smart devices and PCs, purchases through Miiverse — will only be provided de facto to Wii U owners.

Therefore, if this plaza proves to be successful from Nintendo's standpoint, I think we'll see more of them coming in the future from blockbuster 3DS games on the Wii U to tempt 3DS owners even more. In this line of thought I really expect to see a Fire Emblem Awakening Plaza with, who knows, maybe all the Fire Emblem characters of the series as seen through the lense of Awakening. I would really be glad to discuss on Ike and how his story in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn demonstrate a good lesson against racism, among other characters.

So it's like the sims/sim city but with animals and stuff (and a bit "simpler") ?

Yea, this was my first Animal Crossing game. Try this: it's like Harvest Moon without such a focus on the farming or marriage. So ... what are you left with? Talking to people, buying stuff, decorating your house, shaking trees, etc. Sounds kind of pathetic, and I was extremely skeptical, but it's incredibly addicting and the game evolves and changes with the days and seasons. New villagers move in, festivities occur, you can go to an island to play minigames, etc. Quite fun, actually.

Pretty much.

@DePapier
I understand. I have both systems. This just made me think of more than just gaming uses for Miiverse. They're going to allow you to create your own communities in Miiverse, so I though immediately of that when I saw you could upload photos. I'm sure they won't allow random pictures on the entirety of Miiverse.

There was talk of Wara Wara plaza layouts that could be themed, 3DS Miiverse thoughts, and connections between the 3DS and Wii U.

I think that there is alot more going on in this "demo", than "oh, you can post to an AC community". That's what it lets you do obviously, but the entire thing seems like it's hinting at a variety of features.
