The prices are fair but too bad the consumer doesn't see it that way, they got too used to paying $1 or even getting games for free. So they now consider anything above $2 to be too expensive.

I'd disagree that the prices are always fair. Look at Super Mario Bros. 3 and Donkey Kong. They're the same price, but which one is better and offers far more value? Obviously the former.

The problem with the current VC situation when it comes to prices is that it is based off of the platform rather than the quality and value of the game. This is where I think Sony has a drastic edge when it comes to its library of classic games. They base price off of the inherent value of the game in terms of quality and content. Metal Gear Solid and the main Final Fantasies cost $10, whereas something like Gex is $6, since the former games are, quite frankly, better. Since they're better, there's more demand, justifying the price. With Nintendo's approach, the chances of you buying anything other than the best games on each platform are almost null, since you feel that only the top-tier games are worth the top-tier price.

I grew up paying $50 for every Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge (and you really had no clue if the game was any good or not - u had to just pick a game that had the coolest boxart cover). To see these games now on the eShop for $5 doesn't bother me at all. However, I can see where some people might be a bit preturbed by the current pricing structure. :3

I expected this to be a good debate. I'm one of the suckers who still spends maybe $25-$50 on VC games on each platform but my real focus wasn't so much about what's fair as it was Nintendo's reluctance to bite the bullet and make some money where they can. I'll pay $5 to play Punchout on 3DS but I think a lot of people wouldn't. Nintendo is trying to think of how they can grow the install base when they should be focused on milking the install base they have as well. Lower pricing increases impulse buys. Nostalgia often has an expiration date and there are those of us who will play Super Mario World until we're 80 years old but many more who will lose interest or just not be willing to drop $8-$10 for it.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

I would actually buy more VC games if they were maybe $1 less it's not terrible overpriced but it's a bit too high IMO
