Implying they can team up or fight against you is different from what you said that you have to bond and befriend the Amiibos.

First on the left in the second row, dude. Right beside Zelda and below Mario. You can't miss him.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

A high level amiibo will be a much harder opponent than a level 9 CPU. This I think is pretty freakin cool.

That's actually dependent on how you train it. When my son got his amiibo, he started to level it up as fast he could, but he played the same stage all the time, using almost the same playing technique all the time, and used only one custom item. After a couple of hours, the amiibo was at level 50, but it was probably one of the most stupid Smash players ever. Since then, my son learned that he need to show the amiibo different things and try to beat it in different ways, and now that same amiibo is pretty good.

At our house, we team up in pairs with one amiibo each and play 4-, 6- or 8-player Smash. Quite fun, when you don't have more than 4 human players! Having the amiibo as a training partner is also quite fun, since you're basically fighting against yourself after a while.

Amiibo is not pay to win, that is the reason why you cannot control him/her. If you want to excel at Smash, you will have to take the time to actually practice, play and get better.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

When did I ever say such thing?

Not if the level wasn't capped at 50, I guess the majority of you guys like how it works and that's fine. I obviously don't and apart from those voicing opinions here nor does pretty much everyone else i have spoken to with regard to them. I think its a missed opportunity, AMIIBO are pretty much pointless in all other games and i thought this was going to be the game that changed that. Sure if you extract fun from having a powerful training buddy then all power to you. Ill keep dreaming that Nintendo might actually see the error of their ways and give us a Pokemon game that would allow full powering up of AMIIBO .

wants to control their AMIIBO is because i assumed wrongly that you could train them into a super leveled fighter, Even if you could only fight them against other AMIIBO it would certainly be very cool for online and it would give credibility to the point of bothering to actual bother to level them up.

But if you had a levelled up Amiibo which you fight as and then fight someone elses levelled up Amiibo then wouldn't it be exactly the same as normal Smash?

Reagrdless of what the level is you will still have a maxium level so it wouldn't really change anything.

...except controlling them effectively makes them pointless. The "leveling up" aspect of amiibo is actually the AI learning from other fighters. The amiibo itself doesn't really become more "powerful" per say. Besides, you can play custom fighters anyway, so what would be the point of controlling an amiibo with a smart AI?

And the advertisements weren't misleading. They never said anything about actually controlling the characters...

Yeah but your complaint literally makes no sense whatsoever. You can already pick whatever character you want to play as, and equip him with all sorts of items or make special rules to change your stats. Playing as an amiibo would gain you absolutely nothing.

You want a $13 product to do nothing. You're going on about how you wasted your money because a product you thought did nothing at all actually has a purpose that you were unaware of. It's beyond dumb.

My main amiibo woe is that Nintendo sucks at even trying to please its South American consumers. As such, the figurines still have no official release date in Brazil, and our option is to pay $40 for imported ones from specialty stores. It's all the more frustrating whenever I go to my local game stores and see rows and rows of Disney Infinity and Skylander figurines.

Oh well. Rant over, y'all can go back to your regular discussion now.

Yeah, I don't understand why Nintendo is being so dodgy with supply and demand. I think they would have better PR if they gave a straightforward answer.

Anyway, I'm glad I preordered Pit. He's already selling out in various stores (preorders anyway)

Having too much demand is a pretty damn good problem to have. I think the reason they're a bit iffy on the answers to replenishing stock is purely because they're not sure what will happen. For all we know once the second and third waves of Amiibos hit the interest in the "rare" first wave ones will fade as people's interest jumps over to Megaman, Pit and Meta Knight. They wouldn't want to rush to get a massive pile of new Wii Fit trainers only for people to not be interested in them anymore. They're in high demand but it's not like they're that hard to find.

As for the OP.... really? ... yeah... nah.... sorry...

Soooo, did you want amiibo to just be paid dlc like Skylanders and Disney Infinity? Because that isn't a good idea for smash.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

I view it kind of like training up a Pokemon. And as for it being "something you cannot essentially do anything with," I'd have to disagree with you 1,000 times over. I don't know about you, but I find myself playing Smash quite a few times with only one or two friends (or -gasp- even just myself!) and wanting to fill in the gap(s) with a CPU. Using one of my Amiibos is SOOOOOOO much better than just a level 9 CPU. I think my Link figure is only around lvl 30ish, and he wipes the floor with level 9 CPUs. It's so much more fun and challenging to play with/against Amiibo characters.

Wait until he's lvl 50. You'd be really skilled or lucky to even beat him

Amiibo in Smash should be viewed as a training partner. An AI that learns how you play and tries to beat you. If you want to play as your Amiibo then you will need to create a custom character with the same moves and stats as your Amiibo. That is why people are saying it is pointless, cause you can already do that without needing an Amiibo. Amiibo usage in other games is unknown, we only know how 3 games use them. (Smash, Kart, Hyrule Warriors) Future games will use them in different ways which is the point of Amiibo when compared to other "Toys to Life" games, multiple games use the figures in different and unique ways instead of one series using the toys in the same way.

Sorry you expected a certain type of functionality and you turned out to be wrong. I suggest you do more research before making future purchases.

After reaching lvl 50, my Yoshi kind of turned weirdly evasive, he'll rarely get close to hit you and will rely on excessive dodging and egg throwing.

That usually makes the matches super long

He has even killed himself by dodging off-screen in the bridge of eldin.

Bloop.
