The ability to modify your party based on your amiibo.
This would affect combos, skills, storylines and relationships,
weapons, items, familiars.
Endless possibility that will never come to fruition no doubt.
Heres to dreaming.

It surprises me how much of an afterthought amiibo seems to be for Nintendo. They could easily make a lot of money if they made a game that focused around them.

They seem to be making plenty of money right now...

I'm happy with how Nintendo is using Amiibo now. You don't need them to play a game, you can just use them to unlock content. I don't like Skylanders or Disney Infinity, because they seem like cheap cash grabs. You shouldn't need to pay for figurines to use in a game, you should be able to control those character out of the box, with no added materials.

@WaLzgi they don't seem to be making that much (Nintendo as a whole I mean). No business is ever satisfied with making enough money to get by. If they used these figures in their own game they could easily be competing with Disney and Skylanders.

@Dipper723 the problem isn't just that they're optional, its that they're useless in their current form. Why buy them when they seem to have so little purpose. I'm not looking at this from a consumer's point of view I'm looking at it from Nintendo's, and if they want an easy way to sell these figures then they need to make a game that revolves around them. Yes it sucks for content to be behind a pay wall but there's a reason Skylanders has made Activision billions.

I know they will make other amiibos for other games, but smash could have been huge. Unless they make a new game franchise, smash is the only game where all major Nintendo franchises appear together. There was so much opportunity wasted.

I don't mind having toys with Skylanders because there's a justified reason for them to be there and they tie in with the game's lore. I don't like it with Infinity because it locks off significantly more and has no justification, just tossed on without an explanation. It also helps a lot that with the Skylander figures, you can use them in every one of the Skylander games, so you can keep upgrading them in a new story with new levels each year. The Infinity figures are restricted to their own playsets and the toy box, so in terms of full-fledged adventures, their options are very finite. If we see an amiibo-centric game, I definitely want it to be more like Skylanders than Infinity.
