Might not even bother to get one, and I have every system since NES. Wii really turned me off.
Nintendo have proven that they arent going fully casual with this console. People seem to forget that the Wii was the first system of Nintendo's that was treated as such, and that they made plenty of great hardcore games before the Wii came about. Those thinking they wont get those games on the Wii U need to look past one console generation.

The system will be far weaker than the next Xbox or the PS4 though. Going back to the SNES and N64 days Nintendo had the most powerful rigs in town, and even the Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2 (though not Xbox), just much cheaper and not using DVD technology. The Wii U looks like it will be behind again since it's less powerful than a PS3...
I've been looking for a first or second party Nintendo game to wow me the same way Perfect Dark did since 2000, so far, however, I'm still waiting, though I feel Metroid Prime Hunters was an under-rated FPS and I loved Galaxy 1 and 2, it just seems Nintendo has lost their technological edge they had over the Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, and Sony Playstation.
@banjo....uhhhh GCN and N64 were more powerful and they didn't sell, and next WiiU is more powerful then PS3 (idk what your thinking)

I have zero interest in COD, which is barely core nowadays anyway. I'll never purchase one of them, they represent everything that's wrong with the FPS genre today IMO.
Goldeneye Wii was pretty good, although it didn't stay as an exclusive for very long, the precision controls were great.
Loved Galaxy 1 and 2.
Never been a big Zelda fan and I had the first one, Twilight Princess on Gamecube anyway.
Should have probably given Corruption or Another M a chance, hindsight is 20/20.
I don't buy Nintendo consoles for third-party games generally... who does?
Didn't like Brawl as much as Melee but still loved it. No complaints there.
Loved Super Paper Mario but like so much of the Wii's library was basically a Gamecube game (in fact it started out as one).
I'm definitely buying New Super Mario Bros U. Is it as original as people would have liked? No. But it still looks like the best 2D Mario game in years, so honestly I want to support Nintendo in this. Maybe if this somewhat more interesting New Super Mario Bros games sells, then Nintendo will decide it's worth trying a more original Mario game. Don't want Nintendo to think that either Mario doesn't sell any more or that New Super Mario Bros U is too 'original' or something stupid like that.
And hey, I'll still buy the 3D Mario games as well.
Take off your Nintendo-brand glasses for a moment, which I'm generally loath to do as well. There's very little, if any leap here, the Wii U is a catch-up console and certainly won't compete graphically with the rest of its generation when they come out.

I was looking for another innovative 3D platforming Mario. I have zero interest in the "New" games after NSMB2 on 3DS, which was too easy and uninspired, never making that mistake again. I loved 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 (and even 3D Land though it was too linear) but sadly those are more expensive to produce and don't sell as well as the New Super Mario Bros. games. What a sad state of affairs we live in if this is the case.
Nintendo are good making bucket loads of money on software produced with a modest budget. I think they'll make another 3D Mario though.

There's just not much there...
There's also Wario land: The shake dimension, Punch-out Wii, Xenoblade chronicles, The last story, Pandora's tower, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the skies. As for third-party games, there's No more heroes and its sequel, Zack and Wiki; Quest for Barbaros' treasure, Little King's story, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new world, 5 Resident evil games, Rune factory: Frontier, Klonoa; Door to phantmille etc.

At best, it BARELY beats out two 6 and 7 year-old consoles.
It's fine if you don't want one, I'll be sitting down playing a console that'll be more powerful then. This gen (prolly not as powerful as next, but by how much anyway?)
