I was looking for another innovative 3D platforming Mario. I have zero interest in the "New" games after NSMB2 on 3DS, which was too easy and uninspired, never making that mistake again. I loved 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 (and even 3D Land though it was too linear) but sadly those are more expensive to produce and don't sell as well as the New Super Mario Bros. games. What a sad state of affairs we live in if this is the case.
I hope not. We need more moneys for...basically every other announced Wii U game that will probably be good. Especially the eShop and Platinum Games stuff. And Pikmin 3 because apparently Pikmin 2 had pretty meh sales so if 3 doesn't sell well after like 5+ years of development or whatever, I'd be worried about the future of the series. And while I loved Little King's Story more, it just showed a fraction of the potential for Pikmin-like games and 3 and Wonderful 101 make me excited to see what they will do with the semi-RTS gameplay.
Ugh... just wait for the 3D Mario game and don't complain about NSMBU. If you don't want it, fine. Do you complain about every game that comes out that you don't want to buy because it's not a game that you do want to buy?
Having recently played NSMB2, I don't plan on getting it at least at first. Between NintendoLand and the 3rd party releases, I shouldn't need anything else soon.
as I've said, it's at least clearly far better than the rushed lazy 3DS game, and isn't a huge example of people refusing to buy anything other than sequels on the Wii like...the Wii game was. So again, not worth complaining about, go praise the awesome of better games instead is my suggestion. Which I have (buy Tank Tank Tank!)
NSMBU actually has a pretty impressive diffiulty curve as you go along. And its much more unique and challenging than any of the other NSMB games. I dont see why people were so put off by NSMB2 and somehow think it instantly represents NSMBU.
Not the biggestt fan of the SSB franchise in general so I wont be getting any more of them personally.
Um, do you mean NSMB franchise? The SSB franchise is "Super Smash Bros." If you were talking about Super Smash Bros., I believe that this is the wrong forum.
NSMB2 is my last...only reason I got it was because it was more interesting than this game with its coin theme, and that it seemed more fitting on a handheld. To me this is pretty much NSMB Wii HD....I REALLY wish they would change things up. (AND GET RID OF FREAKING MUSIC)

Keep it PG-13-ish.

Well, to put it into perspective, NSMBU and NSMB2 were not made by the same team. The group that made the latter had no real involvement with Mario platformers in the past (excluding 2 people), and had gone through a type of schooling by Nintendo on how to design it.

I am not getting it. As I am not a Mario fan (please don't shoot). I do love the Mario Kart games on the other hand and I did like one of the Mario games on the Ds but I for got what one it was.

Woops got mixed up, wont be buying NSMB U either though don't want to encourage that series honestly even if they have promised to take a break from it for a while, would rather see a return of Wario in a platformer personally.
I'm not complaining. I've been wanting a return to 2D Mario games since Super Mario World. So I'm glad they're back. And it doesn't replace the 3D Mario adventures, so I don't see why anyone should complain. Especially with only one NSMB game per console. Like that's too much?

more just utterly sick of original games selling horribly and NSMB's existance just highlights the problem considering how these games don't compare to those ones or tons of indie games that do cooler stuff with 2d platformer. But if 2d Mario did similar cool idea straight up ripped off from those indie games it could easily be better than the idea it would rip off. But they won't because it would make less money just because of that, and it depresses me how much I believe that is true.

Might not even bother to get one, and I have every system since NES. Wii really turned me off.
Nintendo have proven that they arent going fully casual with this console. People seem to forget that the Wii was the first system of Nintendo's that was treated as such, and that they made plenty of great hardcore games before the Wii came about. Those thinking they wont get those games on the Wii U need to look past one console generation.
