I have trouble explaining it but there's about grasping my surroundings that I have trouble with with first person perspective. I like fully seeing my character, have a grasp of their position in the area, and I always feel a little disoriented. I'm glad that besides the Metroid Prime series Nintendo seems to avoid this, does anyone else dislike this perspective or am I just weird like that?

I'm not a fan of First Person View in games at all either. I don't understand why anyone would want to not be able to see their character? And you can't see behind you at all which sucks...
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I don't mind it so much, it just depends on the game.
What I do hate is first person controls in third person view. Kid Icarus Uprising and Sin & Punishment are good examples of that.
When I was a kid I used to get motion sickness in FPS games, so I tried to stay away. Yet the more I played, the more my brain got used to it so it happened less and less. I think it does not happen anymore.
What I hate is when you have to make precise jumps or when the game does not give you an option for a quick turnaround.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
I'm pretty accustomed to first person views since I've enjoyed FPS's since the mid 90's........but it's always cool to have a third person view as an option, especially if it's playable.
Imagine in Wind Waker HD if you could actually play in the first person mode, it would warrant another play through for sure, just to see everything in a new perspective.

The main problem I have is FPSers make me puke all over the screen. I get serious motion sickness from them. I'd have to pretend to watch my kids play mario kart back in the day; otherwise I'd be hurling into the nearest potted plant.
I did not tell anyone in fear of nobody believing me but i see everything in first-person perspective.
On a more serious note it is not too bad unless it is common for enemies to spawn behind you.
Troll? Troll!? Troooooooooooooolllll!!!! Uh, I mean Snake...
Personally, I don't hate any perspective, but I prefer third over first 90% of the time. I'm happy that Splatoon is third person, I think it would be meh if it were a first person game. ZombiU, Halo, etc. all work as first person though.
Usually first person and third person perspectives call for different mechanics in games, so it never occurred to me that one could be better than the other. I definitely tend to play more third person games, but that's just because good and original FPS are few and far between. I wouldn't turn down a good FPS just because of the perspective.
As for motion sickness, had it once with Half Life 2 and had to stop playing it for good. No idea what's the cause and why it only happened with that game.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Eh I play more third person games, it just works more for me games like Skyrim kinda work but I still feel kinda awkward playing through it's just weird... I can play Metroid Prime 3 perfectly tho
I hate FPS and the view has a lot to do w/ it. Though as not to be considered a Nintendo fanboy I don't really like 2D games either and much prefer open world. Even if it's not completly open world, like Sly Cooper which has mostly rooms and hallways and streets. It does limit the amount of games I enjoy, but why play what I don't like?
