I went out and bought a Wiimote a few days ago and downloaded N64's Mario Kart with my download ticket on The WiiShop Channel in Wii mode. I tried to get a Classic Controller Pro at a second hand gaming store but the two stores I went too didn't have any (which you need to play those games &. Nintendo stopped making them). I got a raw deal though, I bought two Classic Controller Pro's on e-bay for $24 !
Also, You could get a GC Gamecube Game Controller Converter Adapter for Wii & Wii U Console for the Wiimote without having to buy a Wii. Then you could use a Gamecube controller with your Wii U ! I thought about getting one yesterday, but decided to buy the actual controllers instead on e-bay !
If you're interested in a GCN controller, this will be coming out, eventually: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/05/pdp_confirms_the_gam...
(the one pictured isn't it, obviously)
It will be made by PDP, officially licensed by Nintendo, and will come out sometime this year.
