I think Sega's official response is that the sku is no longer in production.
And nothing of value was lost.
All they said was its 'no longer in production' which could mean that all the Wii-U copies of the game have been produced (between 2-5 million) and that they will be shipping them soon.

All they said was its 'no longer in production' which could mean that all the Wii-U copies of the game have been produced (between 2-5 million) and that they will be shipping them soon.
If that is the case, hopefully they will be getting shipped straight to a furnace somewhere.
