Does anyone know if Nintendo plans on having ads in other games besides Mario Kart and Golf? I'd hate advertisment to make it into any main series Nintendo adventures...will this happen?

they have been doing this for a while. You can find Duracell batteries in pikmin 2. Look at it this way..... It helps pay for more games.

But will we start seeing it in like main series Mario and Zelda games and stuff like that? At least with Pikmin it made sense, I don't wanna be fighting Bowser or roaming Hyrule and just see some random Coca-Cola billboard, it would kill the immersion. Nothing they've done yet has really been bad, but I'm worried it's a slippery slope.
All MK8 advertisement in the game are fake brands. The Mercedes DLC is totally optional. If you don't like it, don't download it.
The Pikmin 2 approach was something completely different, but that game was created a long time ago.
It is not optional at all other than in single player.
Whether you have it or not you still see it online. They could have just replaced those with the standard kart for people who had chosen not to have it but they didn't.
And you get rid of the Mercades Ad if you scroll down to shop if it is installed. (instead you see the thing for Animal Crossing / Zelda DLC).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

It's free DLC, yes there's advertising going on, but the cars don't look out of place and they don't affect the gameplay. Too bad if you don't like them, there are probably other cars that you don't like, and you cannot disable those either. Besides, I don't really get the point, as I rarely notice the cars other people are using anyway.

Difference is those other cars don't look out of place. The fact is it is mandatory (Other than not playing online and it is even more dull then).

I think Ninendo have got it just right with Mario Golf and Mario Kart 8 - the adverts are related to the game - a golf company for a golf game and a car company for a car game. I think adverts would look out f place in more fantasy worlds like Zelda or Metroid but in games which mimic real life activities such as the Mario sports games then advertising isn't really an issue.
I don't mind the Ferrari in Outrun for example (Suitable Car matches the setting well etc). Or the F14 in Afterburner (It is a suitable plane and it has an Afterburner).
The PAL Waverace box is more tasteful. It has the Kawasaki on the side but not the tacky subtext.
