I sort of agree to be honest. More precisely, I think Iwata has a problem in that he's a bit of a 'weak' CEO that doesn't seem to have the backbone to stand up to devs and tell them to concentrate on what sells and not go all crazy with 'experiments'. He's a nice guy and he is passionate about video games, but he's not just strong enough to stand up to others in the company and demand that they make things that the mass market or Nintendo fans or whatever want rather than what they want to make.

Other management staff need to go as well, because they seem to have kind of lost the plot recently.

I suspect Japanese business culture has a lot to do with this to be honest. The focus on seniority and people working at the same company all their lives causes stagnation and a lack of new ideas in some cases.

Oh, and Nintendo really, REALLY needs to fire their marketing team. In most regions. Because it seems like they've fallen into the trap of assuming that you 'build it and they'll come' rather than actually hyping up the products or advertising them in mainstream media and publications.

Oh yes. Let's fire all the head honchos and expect anything but good things out of this. What's the worst that can happen...oh wait

Also considering how Iwata has a 77% approval rating with shareholders....why does he need to be fired?

EDIT: I stopped at where he said Reggie needs to be fired. Mr. Sessler is clueless and I am done here.

I read that Iwata's approval rating has never been under 90 percent. 77% seems like a rather large drop. I think even investors might not have much confidence in him lately.

I don't think Iwata is bad, but he definitely needs to be more competent and more prepared.

this is magical thinking... as if firing Iwata will solve anything. Just to remind everyone: Iwata was also responsible for the DS and Wii, the biggest succes stories in Nintendo's history, and made the company and its shareholders a shipload of money.

I think the Major problem with Nintendo right now is their marketing team, they need to get ads that people will see (e.g tv) and show what the Wii U is; a brand new console with unique experiences.

I think it's funny how people gauge success as how much money something made. I imagine everyone in charge at Nintendo feels very satisfied in what they do. Personally, I am worried about what will happen to Nintendo once the major players retire.

Nintendo releases top quality hardware and software. Their products are durable and often completely bug free. I can't even think of more than two Nintendo games that ever required a patch. Meanwhile, most "successful" or "better" companies release crappy hardware that breaks all the time (360) or games that that are so riddled with bugs they are impossible to enjoy.

I hate to see how Nintendo gets treated, simply because they are the only company trying something new. All anyone cares about nowadays is graphics and shooters. Nintendo dominated the market when originality mattered. Now that gaming has gone mainstream, Nintendo can never be what they once were. I just hope that they hang in there and keep doing what they love. It's beats selling your soul for just a little more profit...
