I don't think new management, if put in place, would change the "Nintendoness" of its products, since that's one of the main reasons Nintendo has been successful in the past (and why their products survive). I would think the changes would be more on the line of making Nintendo more efficient in its global structure. The things that its competitors have already established to help remove redundancies in their business model.

Exactly this. I don't think people are calling for resignations from anyone directly responsible for developing games. More on the business side of things while striving to be more efficient and dominant as a company.

He specifically mentioned Iwata and Reggie. I don't understand how Reggie has full control over titles released, which is why I stopped watching. Adam Sessler is one of those ignorant people that has no idea how Nintendo is run. To be fair, neither do I, but I don't make this argument like I know how to run a company better than the CEO does...

Yeah I don't know of anything that Reggie did to deserve to be fired. lol

I can imagine there are people who would benefit Nintendo by being replaced, but I highly doubt anyone outside of Nintendo can say who those people are with any accuracy.

Not quite sure if Reggie should go, the only major stain on Nintendo of America in recent years was needing to have fans launch Operation:Rainfall for them to release some darn games!
Iwata, however, is antiquated in his corporate views, and should at least be demoted.

What Would W. Do?

Its easy to blame Nintendo for lazy work, because their fans will buy whatever you give them, and be ok with it, while they die a little inside.
If Nintendo did what the X-BoxOne was doing with their console, I think they would have been able to get away with it, since Nintendo fan seem to like everything, and will not fight about.

They could always hire Sessler, then fire him, and say they took his advice.

I'm hoping that Nintendo's newly formed N.E.R.D gets more say in developing games specificly for the wesern market.

While I like Sessler and he is generally knowledgable about the things he discusses, I do think this is basically just Western business ideals versus Japanese business. Western companies love touch money into something, make a quick buck, and pray they survive long enough to do it again. Japanese is a bit more long term.

These are of course massive generalizations, mind you.

I'm sorry, but Sessler should shove off.
The best thing Nintendo could do for itself, is for the top brass to hire on people to be their apprentices, pass on their teachings, and get some sort of company policy going stating firm and clear that no CEO, at any point in time now or in the future, can force Nintendo to start developing for freaking PHONES, let alone go third party, the moment they hit a small snag in sales.
Should not EVER happen.

You've got to be kidding me.
You actually think we'd just buy anything thrown at us?
Explain why Sniper Elite V2 and Mass Effect 3 sold like crap, then.
Explain why Zombie U sold like crap.
We know what good games are, and those aren't good games. They lacked features, they lacked DLC, and they had serious issues in gameplay that kept them from selling as well as they COULD have if third parties had done a few key things differently with the Wii U versions.
We're not as blind as anti-Nintendo shills assume we are.
Most of us won't give our money to games that suck a**.

I personally think Nintendo's head honchos are the reason Nintendo is doing WELL right now. The 3DS is selling like hot cakes, and once WiiU gets out of the game slump (beginning of August), it will pick up like the 3DS did. Nintendo as a company have been around since 1889 and know how to stand the test of time.

By all means, blame the top executives for the market conditions and fire them regardless of their many years of experience and the fact that they have led Nintendo through good and bad times. What Nintendo needs is all new staff and fifty FPS games.

For some reason my mind initially read the title of this thread as "Adam Sandler: Nintendo should fire their top managment."

I'm gonna get grilled for mentioning this site's number one enemy but I saw one of Pachter's shows and he was talking about how Reggie is a great business man and Nintendo is lucky to have him, he also pretty much stated the whole firing people thing but he said very good things about Reggie. He says Reggie is a man that knows how to make the best of what Nintendo gives him which is very little. That said he did not say many good things about Iwata.

Good things would happen if Nintendo made a cinematic experience out of Metroid. Combining the realism or personality from Other M and the gameplay elements of the Prime series.

If they had a Metroid version of Bioshock Infinite or something similar I would actually consider getting the console. They have most of the gameplay elements from Prime already, and they attempted a great story with Other M, if they could just improve upon those and package them into one game they would have a flagship FPS and everyone could stop talking about it. lol

I also know in advance there will very likely be someone that says both those games were great as is and they need no changing, like all other Nintendo games. My response is I am happy for you.

Also I would not mind this if it happened.

Not really.

Iwata is seemingly hit or miss but I'd genuinely worry about someone worse taking over. Like compare Nintendo to a lot of major gaming companies, even with Wii U's problems, they are doing fine and there's little to indicate that will change. But most of the major gaming publishers have had it even worse that I can't help but think it is a problem with the industry as a whole rather than some people in a few companies. There was this great article that Neogaf posted years ago that basically showed how idiotic the industry is compared to the movie industry, wish I could find it.

I just think Nintendo needs to find less ridiculously conservative lawyers and representatives and a better more modern marketing team and maybe a new CEO or whatever would do that but I genuinely feel it's at least equally like someone as flawed, if not worse, taking over.

Though if Wii U still has major release issues next year, I might lean more towards their firing because Nintendo doesn't have any excuse anymore.

Did anyone specifically mention Iwata? (I'm too lazy to watch that video). Not 'everyone' needs to be fired, but it's highly unlikely (well actually statistically almost impossible) everyone there is the best possible person for their position.

As for actual game development, that has more to do with devs and less to do with the corporate executives. Their teams of developers won't be radically different if someone on the business end of things gets the boot.

He specifically mentioned Iwata and Reggie. I don't understand how Reggie has full control over titles released, which is why I stopped watching. Adam Sessler is one of those ignorant people that has no idea how Nintendo is run. Most people who dislike reggie is because he's a yes man style figurehead who really doesn't have any real power. The Problem is getting rid of Reggie with a new NOA president wouldn't do anything since the root of the problem is NCL's very insular view of things. A big problem Nintendo has with the Wii U is that Nintendo still looks at making products for Japan instead of developing its systems for a Worldwide Audience. Its not a bad thing per say but some products like consoles have become way more popular in the Larger western markets than it has in Japan. It makes me wonder how much external developer feedback the Wii U had if any at all.

Take Shuhei Yoshida before he became president of Worldwide Studios he was over SCEA. One of his first mandates were for Sony to build up talented studios in each region and trying to have different experiences based on a regions different developers. Nintendo is really afraid of expanding its development branches out to other regions in fear of losing their Identity (a legitimate concern) as well the communication issues (something I disagree with in 2013).

While I have no big grievances with Iwata (I do blame management for the WIi U performance but there's no judging until this holiday season) in the same way that Yamaguchi worked on three consoles and than left the company to retire, maybe its time for Iwata and his Cabinet to turn the reigns to a newcomer.

They don't need to fire anyone, they just need some new IP's. Show the next big Zelda & Mario game followed by a bit more third party support and they are fighting back.

Bring some hardcore Star Fox & Metriod games back well get it sorted.
