Are all of those things interchangeable and compatible with one another, though? I don't think so, and I'm not interested enough to read through 100+ product descriptions, but that's what I mean when wireless systems are 100% better, but they aren't capable/flexible enough to be beat out wired stuff.

Just imagine if you could hook up 9 wireless speakers and have them know where each other is located for accurate sound reproduction, and they can play any codec. That's why I'm saying that the stuff could be better, but it needs to be better than what's common and still meet somewhere close in price in order to be viable.

I know Sonos and such make compatible speakers, but I haven't read enough to know whether it goes higher than 5.1 like the Sonos(according to the product description).

#1 I'm not talking about surround systems, I'm talking about music playback
#2 If not proprietary it's Bluetooth and Airplay. It's compatible enough. Not necessarily talking multi-room audio
#3 Playback is usually done on your device not the speaker
#4 I was talking about Sony's lack of push in that space where they were once dominant as a single example alongside mobile etc. I wasn't at all wanting to argue or talk about your views on the technical problems with the products. Fact is they are popular even if you seem to not understand what they are.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

I do understand what they are, though, which is why I'm saying they aren't really worth that much. It's the same way I feel about Beats, Apple devices, and certain software.

If you want GOOD music playback, you aren't going to buy one of those simple as tacks little Beat pill type things, especially for $10 That's why I was saying wireless isn't that great, because of an inherent lack of speaker to make things more connectively convenient.

I'm not even the one who brought up audio stuff, so I'm not guilty of going off topic or being out of line.

I agree with Sony being absent in audio, though. Wheneever I bring up that Sony was better or more commonly known as being the Walkman company, I get crap thrown at me from all angles, but it's true. That's why I think Sony should go back to audio, because they were the iPod, BEFORE the iPod.

Well, Weird Al Yankovic did sue Sony music for 5 million bucks in 2012 which dealt a massive blow to what they had left after losing heaps on the PS3... It all adds up

I did "bring it up" but I also mentioned phones, cameras, MP3 players and proprietary media formats in the same couple of lines. You were the one who wanted to make a big deal about me saying the "traditional stereo" business is being slowly killed by "wireless audio". It was a simple statement that you for some reason didn't agree with and have since tried your hardest to try and justify. Now you're even saying that they aren't as dominant in audio as they once were which was what I was saying anyway. I said it because that's what I have observed. They aren't as dominant there, they lost ground and a lot of it has to do with the changing shape of that market and Sony's inability do adapt.

As for quality that's all well and good. I was never saying that those $30 wireless speakers were fantastic or that they were a replacement to a good stereo. I only mentioned that there was a whole range of them and that your "it's expensive" argument wasn't really true. That said some of the higher end ones are definitely higher end especially once you get into the sort of prices you used to pay for a good stereo. Ontop of that those entry level wireless speakers are probably just as good/bad as the entry level stereos Sony used to sell. Most of the money you pay goes towards the quality of the speaker, that hasn't changed.

It's really quite simple. Sony has failed to maintain their dominance in a range of markets because they got complacent and thought they could just keep making the same products forever. Their competitors did change and Sony has fallen because of that. Across the board, not with the Playstation though.

So you made a thread to bash Sony because you felt it was unfair to say gloomy things about Nintendo and not Sony? I don't understand what useful purpose this thread serves. It's just seems like a "but it's not fair" thread.

Compared to Sony, Nintendo gets a lot of crap for asinine reasons.

So we need to make sure that Sony gets crud for insane reasons too or something? Being rediculous for one thing doesn't make being rediculous for another thing reasonable. Espcially when it just a counter measure.

@AJ_Lethal Sad...but true. Nintendo is definitely a punching bag. Nintendo deserves criticism but man... Big N gets slammed and punched in the face... ALOT.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Insane reasons like losing money in certain divisions like crazy?
