Character don't really matter in this type of game. And I honestly don't think Fawful is making an appearance since M&L Dream Team didn't have him. Fawful is a pretty minor character.

Hmm, In which game do they supposedly matter in then. Would you consider it appropriate enough then to have the Mario Series infiltrated with the Metal Gear Franchise. And have Snake racing alongside Princess Peach and Mario. On the mere basis that characters don't matter and therefore these forms of decisions wouldn't hinder or alter the target audience?

I totally agree with this guy...and I explained it on my post
He did not say that they don't matter at all, he just said that they don't really matter. Obviously the characters have to fit some sort of criteria (Mario-related characters), but in terms of gameplay, it really doesn't matter who you put in. The only thing that really separates the characters is their weight and appearance.

The only time I would say characters really mattered was in double dash but it was mostly because they had specials.
The cat's the only cat who knows where it's at.

I would like the characters in MarioKart to be more interactive with each other, like: If Mario passes Wario in a race or hit him with a shell, Wario would yell at him by name all mad like, and Mario would make a comeback at Wario as he passes him, like saying something like "See you next time Wario" . Or there a red shell that about to hit you,and your character would be flipping out, and acting all worried about being hit, like giving you a warning that a red shell is about to hit you.
Mariokart has all these characters, and they been pretty bland with their personality. I want them to act more lively, and that what I feel what Mariokart really needs.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

For once, K agree with you.
Maybe for the red shell, you could just give them a big flashing "!" over their heads as the shell hits 'em.

They don't make a difference in the gameplay, of course. I usually like the variety of characters for heavy role play matches. I do the same thing in Naruto Clash of Ninja games and Super Smash Bros. franchise where I make my own story line and role play the characters. When I was ten years old, I was playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl and I spent about two months of my Summer on a huge story line of just playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was really bored, but really fun. I'd like to do the same thing with Mario Kart 8 where I'd have races against different Mario and Donkey Kong characters.

Yeah, that IS true...then I could see why people would want certain characters in the games over others
But for Mario Kart 8, I honestly don't think it'll matter that much...unless they're hiding special items from us for now
