And any other Mario spinoff for Wii U: Should we get characters to represent the Mario RPG's? Because something I've noticed over the years is that the occurrence of an RPG character in a non-RPG Mario game is extremely rare. I'd love to see characters like Fawful and Dimentio appear in MK8 over random obscure characters like Honey Queen and lazy reskins like Metal Mario.
Seems they are trying way too hard to avoid the RPGs now, as they could easily keep the rosters fresh if they would just pick some characters from there. But their insistence on sticking with platformers only (or characters already in spinoffs) is what caused MK7's roster to suck so badly. In addition to the shocking removal of Waluigi, none of the new characters were really all that mind-blowingly interesting. Just two generic enemies, a random bee and a reskin. All from just the main platformer series. Anyone know why the Mario RPGs never get represented in spinoffs? They have some of the best characters and could really make rosters more interesting.

Toad Brigade Captain (Merely so their special soundtrack can make an appearance in the game)
Though I assume we will be seeing a few appearances from characters appearing in the latest upcoming Mario instalment. In which I mean characters from "Super Mario 3D World". And of course characters matter in a stylised game such as Mario Kart. Not saying characters matter would be similar to saying characters in the latest "Smash Bros" instalment don't matter
Who cares what characters end up in the game. It's really not a big deal.
Are you kidding me...? If you think Waluigi/Bowser Jr./Toadette/Birdo/Diddy Kong/R.O.B./Baby Mario/Baby Luigi/Petey Piranha/King Boo not being in MK7 and Honey Bee being there is not really a big deal to A LOT of people, including myself, I respectfully disagree.

This is exactly the problem! Some people want such a wide variety of characters in a game while so many other people have conflicting ideas about what characters should be included. Nintendo can't make everyone happy, so I always thought it was best not to get too attached to the characters, as someone will ALWAYS be disappointed. That's just me though. I think this is different for a game like Smash Bros., where most characters are unique and have vastly different skills. But in Mario Kart, having one character in place of another one change much, except his or her appearance, really. It's the actual karts/bikes that make a bigger difference.
Personally what I would want in any Mario Kart game is:
1) More unique characters, Rosalina was a start and it seems like she's going to stick around, How about E-gadd, Toadsworth, Pauline, Kamek and maybe some more obscure characters.
2) For characters to be more unique from one another besides their weight class I think that would make it funner to choose the character you want but maybe it could also add some more depth to MK.
3) Specials!!! I thought that was an awesome addition to Double Dash because of reason #2, I just think it would be even better if EACH character had their own special instead of similar characters having the same special (like both Mario and Luigi doing fireballs).
4) If driving underwater, gliding and anti-gravity driving were different (in MK 7 it just felt like you're driving because they don't play differently) kinda like how the vehicles play differently on games like Diddy Kong Racing, or Sonic and sega all stars racing.

I wouldn't mind seeing Toadsworth, E. Gadd or Kamek appear. Neutral on Nabbit, but I really think they should lay off on the generics. I know a lot of people want Hammer Bro, but I don't because I think species should be represented by a notable member of said species. Example: Kooper or Koops to represent Koopa Troopas; Goombario, Goombella or Goomboss to represent Goombas if they ever get in. However Fawful is my most-wanted character; I've been wanting him in since MK7. I believe he has more of a chance at this one, because console Karts have much larger rosters, and this is the first console installment since Fawful's huge role in BiS.

I like the character roster of Mario Kart Wii. Just get the Mario Kart Wii character roster, and add Donkey Kong Jr, Lakitu, Petey Piranha, R.O.B, Shy Guy, and Wiggler from the other Mario Kart games. As for new comers, maybe Dixie Kong just because I liked her a lot in Donkey Kong Land 2, she was a lot more useful than Diddy Kong, but I still like Diddy Kong. That's all that I got on my mind...
