Would you guys want to see a Mario Bros game where you connect online like say you and your friend wanted to play Mario together but couldn't cause he or she isn't at your place so you'd hop on the Wii U and invite your friend to play Mario. Would you guys like to see that happen? I would I think that would be awesome. Let me know what you think.
Yes, that's what NSMBU should have had. As great as local multiplayer is, times have changed, especially in the west, where gamers are not geared towards playing with friends in the same room. Nintendo need to accept that Japanese culture is different to that of the rest of the world.
I think it would be awesome if Nintendo stopped being lazy and created some new Mario Platformers (That means not reusing the same graphics, music and enemies Nintendo - it sounds hard I know, but I'm sure you're up for it).
I think it'd be a good idea. Indeed, fans have already made 2D Mario games and hacks with working online multiplayer, why haven't Nintendo learnt from that?
I'm fine with going online with someone and have them repeatedly die because they won't keep up with me. I'm also fine with them then popping out the disc and rage quitting.
Just noting: Isn't it kinda hard to coordinate your actions when Nintendo isn't going to put voice chat on an E game and the person you're playing with isn't in the same room as you?
To be honest, do people really coordinate their actions even when playing together in the same room? Whenever I end up playing co-op mode with someone, any attempts at being cooperative tend to go downhill pretty fast... I don't think I'd notice much difference playing with a stranger with no possible means of communication.
To be honest, in this day and age it would be stupid not to include online play for games. IMO games should have both online multiplayer options as well as offline.

I think that Nintendo should include online only with people on your friends list, so it would be ok to include voicechat. Animal Crossing supported a similar method using Wii Speak, I don't see why more of Nintendo's child-friendly games could do this.

Hell yeah, and there also needs to be a level editor.
For me, I'd like this even more than online play. It's not like level editors are impossible for the Mario series (every single game up to now has an unofficial editor that works like a basic windows program), and I think Nintendo could make some pretty big money if they play their cards right here. Can you imagine how successful it'd be if they could convert even a small percentage of the people used to the Hello Engine, SMB X or SMW hacking to their own official editor? Then find a way to monetise it...
