i am in the market for a wii U and i plan to purchase one in the coming week or so

however i have a question and nintendo's customer service so far has not been forth coming with an awnser
so i thought i might as well hit the forums

the question is about virtual console games ( which is the reason why i am buying a wii U in the first place )
however 4 years or so ago i had an original wii and quite a lot of vc games ( can you guess where i am going with this ? )
my original wii has been pining for the fjords (dead) for 3 years now and is probably recycled by now
and i am wondering did it take my vc library with it to the grave ?

i can still see the games connected to my nintedo id on the site
so does that mean i can redownload them when i connect the wii U to my id ?
(probably for a fee )
or are they lost to the virtual ether ? ( fucking hell in that case ...i will still buy a wii U regardless )

bonus question !

i know the wii U's virtual console line up is a bit .....sad ..i mean limited and the wii U has a wii mode does that mean the wii U can acces the wii's virtual console store ? (probably not but it cant hurt to ask )

It is dead and cold in the grave with your Wii probably, however, there is a possibility that if you have those games on your nintendo id, they could just give you access to those games. From what I know, there were few lucky ones, but I'm not sure about it.

About bonus question, you have access to wii virtual console from U, so you can also buy games from there. Just remember that it will be impossible to play with the gamepad or pro controller in wii mode.

yeah i was afraid of that
still it cant hurt to ask i shot a email off to nintendo to see what they say
maybe i am lucky

at least i can rebuy all the games ( again ) from the wii virtual console
its better then losing them alltogether i suppose

It might be worth giving Nintendo a phone call rather than dealing with them by email. You can get an answer far quicker this way.
You may need your Club Nintendo info ready when you speak to them.
If Nintendo decides to say no, you can still download some of the games you had for a cheaper price through the WiiU eShop, just as long as you link your WiiU to your Club Nintendo account.

As others have said try giving Nintendo a call. Since they are linked to your NNID then you might have some luck getting them back just explain the situation to them.

If not then yes you can still buy Wii VC games through the Wii Mode on the Wii U however some games have been removed since like the DKC series, Rtype Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a few others that I can't remember right now.

What do you mean by dead? Do you still have it? If its just an internal problem it could be fixed, at least maybe temporarily. Because if your hard drive is intact and you can manage to get it to work somehow, you can transfer everything to your new Wii U.

i think its best if i call them after i bought a wii U and probably after the holidays too

i can alreayd imagine the conversation otherwise :
now turn on your wii u system and
er i dont have a wii u yet
...oh
