Topic: 3rd party developers unfair to Wii U & Nintendo

3rd party developers are not giving focus to Wii U because they claim it's a weak console. Nonsense. Console that is capable of running AC4, Watch Dogs, RE Revelations is powerful Enough!! It doesn't have to be a super computer.

Why is that so?

1. Game Dev companies believe Wii U will fail (e.g. Ubisoft Aisha Tyler said it's abandoned)? - Yet only 7 months passed.
2. Game Dev companies claim (It's hard and costly to develop for) which is Bull****. - Was it hard to develop for PS3?
3. Game Dev companies think Wii U can't match PS4, XBOX, iPad etc... - Big lie, Wii U is completely different to all of them with unique experience.
4. Game Dev companies claim Wii U have small install base. - PS4 and XBOX have no install base, they will also sell slowly yet they are making tons of games for them.
5. Game Dev companies claim Wii U hardware is "slow" and incapable to run their games? - What is happening? Game Dev companies are invited to develop for Wii U not to bring XBOX 360 ports (this is the biggest problem for them cause they never developed for Wii U instead they ported games to Wii U)

All utter Bull****. They want Wii U to fail because they get tons of $$$ from SONY and MICRO$OFT.

It's all about egos. Nintendo doesn't suck up to companies like EA who want to feel like the big dogs. Nintendo's games consistently sell better than third party games. It's not the case with the other consoles. Games like Uncharted don't sell as well as Nintendo franchises. They just don't. So Nintendo is just too big and they're uncomfortable working with them on their terms. Nintendo is making a specific effort with Indies, but with the big guns you need the CEO to constantly suck up - for example, consult about the hardware, about how the console will look etc. Nintendo takes their own decisions. You can see that when it was important to them, they consulted and worked together - for example with Capcom to get the Monster Hunters.

Well while Im a Nintendofan and only wish the best for the Wii U I think Nintendo seriously botched it. Let me give you my opnion on your statements:
1) Of course they believe it will fail, the last console was only for a specific demographic and now this one just doesn't have the mass-appeal the last Wii had with its wiggle controls, people are non-aware of the features of the Wii U, all of this is Nintendos bad marketing and lack of good first party titles.
2) Yes it was hard to develop for the PS3 due to the cell processor, eventually the PS3 pulled through a very long draught in support (due to this and high sale praice). I and you cannot judge how hard it is to develop for anyhting, fact is though that PS4 and XBOXOne run all on x86 architecture (they are basicly PCs) while the Wii U is not, so it doesn't only need extra coding to get something to run on the weaker specs of the Wii U you even need to adjust it to a different processor architecture which is again added costs and time.
3) Technically it CAN't match the others, hard numbers are just hard numbers, and what unique experience exactly is there? For next gen you get all the "Wii U" tablet controller features in your games just on smartglass/PsVITA/tablet, almost every developer is pushing for tablet integration in their games, they even will have off-TV play. I personally don't need/want any of this, but it's there, and on top of that I haven't seen a single "WOW"-use for the gamepad yet, so if not even Nintendo can come up with something worthwile, why would 3rd parties bother trying things out?
4) Of course 3rd parties are backing Sony and MS with lots of games even if their install base is Zero. Both consoles have a big reputation, its easy to develop a game for both platforms due to same architecture, both are doing awesome PR and marketing and obviously, the fan reaction so far (to PS4) is awesome, I can remember that the Wii U - from its very introduction - always just caused confusion with consumers, until this day many people have no clue what it is. And yes of course the other 2 platforms seem more "future proof" due to higher specs, so of course they get the most support.
5) All points above together, sure many games COULD run on the Wii U but in a time where money is king its mostly not worth invest extra development time to tweak their engine good enough to make it run on Wii U for a few extra sales when they basicly can just adjust a few settings and make a PS4 or XBOXONE version out of a PC version of a game easily.

Your final conclusion is just weird, developers/publishers will always analyse what will be their highest reward versus the smallest risk, unfortunately Wii U is standing on the opposite of this equation and it really doesn't help that there is NOTHING Wii U can do (except first party games) that the others can't but the other way round? Phew...

Again, Im really sad about how this all works out, but yeah Wii U does not qualify to be your "only" platform. And to spend all that money for a Wii U next to a PC and or PS4/XBOXONE just for the Nintendogames... doubtful at best...

Top 5 Indies I'd recommend you try: #1 Lovecraft's Untold Stories, #2 Moonlighter, #3 Hotline Miami, #4 Inside, #5 Into the Breach.

1. Ubisoft is supporting Wii U with a lot of games, they don't want Wii U to fail, yet you use them as an example of Wii I haters.
2. Wii U doesn't have an install base 80 million, some games more on PS3 than the entire Wii U base could have brought in in sales if all Wii U owners bought the game.
3. Putting the iPad aside here, Wii U doesn' lt have nearly as much power as PS4/XB1. The gamepad may not be the experiences thy are look for, or think is really going push things forward.
4. You don't know how slow or fast they will sell. The people who want third party games are getting PS4/XB1, not a Wii U. Wii U might not be able to handle some next gen games, and PS4/XB1 will have the people who want lt the games and will be two console markets to sell to instead of one that won't want your game as much.
5. You're thinking of DICE. They never said it wouldn't work on Wii U, they said that it didn't have good initial results and decided it wouldn't be worth the resources to make a Wii U game. The latter part of the reason is true regardless if they said it would or wouldn't work on Wii U and is the most important reason.

They're not paying off people to keep games off Wii U. If they thought Wii U was a good business decision they would make games for it. They don't want Wii U to fail. They just don't see return of their investment. Video games are not a charity, they are business and a lot of people forget that or get caught up in thinking one company is the greatest.

Plus Nintendo console owners could always actually buy 3rd parties games. Then maybe 3rd parties will support Wii U more and put more effort into their games.

Uncharted sells just as well or better than a lot of Nintendo franchies.

Why would they not want a lot of money? They're businesses. Besides, I highly doubt they want the Wii U to fail.

Third parties only care about making a profit. If it looks like they won't make enough money from selling their game on Wii U to justify putting effort into porting it then they won't. Simple as that. I don't think there is this grand conspiracy against the Wii U it's just the numbers of it. All things being equal for every Wii U game a third party can sell they can in theory sell 25 on PS3 or 360... so why would you develop for Wii U over those other platforms?

Unless you've got a game like Assassin's Creed or CoD it would be very hard to justify porting your game over to the Wii U at this point.

pretty much this. if we could move on from the conspiracy theorism and go back to just playing games we enjoy, that'd be awesome. :3
