Ok, this really, REALLY sounds like a popular topic, but i just dont know what to get

3ds

Its a handheld, so i can play my old ds games on it (ds lite broke) and theres a couple of games i wanted such as NSMB2, mario kart, mario 3d land, etc.

Wii U

Its a HD console, it has a NSMB game coming for the system and looks pretty cool. I also like the games that are coming for the system such as TANK TANK TANK!, Pikmin, scribblenauts, etc.

And this part may make the big decision, i got the wii a couple months ago. Yes i understand it was a dumb idea, but it was back in March, when i was tired of waiting and just wanted some games to play. So if i get a wii U, then the wii i got will basically be boring when i get the wii u and will not play it alot.. On the other hand, the 3ds is cool, but then i would have to decide between the 3ds and the xl version.

So what do you guys think? Oh and sorry, im spike (first post) nice to meet ya

Hmmm, that's a tough one, the 3DS is great and I like portable more then home console, but I like wii u because I haven't tried yet.

If you got a 3DS an instant XL would be a good idea!

How about 3DS and Wii U? I'm jk. Obviously that would be ideal though.

I'd go with a 3DS since we don't know what the Wii U launch line up is going to look like yet, or if there will be any problems with the system at launch. I love my 3DS and always have, but I learned my lesson by buying one at launch. I'll be waiting 6 months to a year for a Wii U so the library can build, all the features are available, and so I can tell whether the system will have a good, long lifespan or not.

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

i wouldnt worry about the wii u anfd price. Iwata did say that he wouldnt make the same 3ds mistakes, and iwata didnt make previous mistakes before the 3ds so i think the wii u price will be the same for atleast 2 years

How much you can sell your Wii for? You could use that money towards one of the systems and then save and get the second one, with the Wii U not being redundant. It depends on how much you need to wait.

On the other hand, you may wait a little more for the Wii U to see how good it is and if it will be worth your time, while you can already gauge that on the 3DS. If you do get the 3DS, there is nothing to be decided: get the XL. The difference is only 30 bucks and you will get a bigger screen with a longer battery life and the same compatibility.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

How do you people already know your disposable income several months in advance? And what's the harm in getting a handheld now, and then getting the console whenever you have the money?

It's not like you have to purchase the console at launch or they'll be unavailable.

Definitely get the 3DS XL, it should be a huge step up from the 3DS in terms of screen size and all the improvements that are being made to the buttons and overall feel of the system.

The 3DS is cheaper than the Wii U (no doubt), has a very promising library of games especially with the eShop, and gives you time to enjoy your Wii system before you upgrade to Wii U.

You are what you eat from your head to your feet.

They are in different leagues. One is a console and one is a handheld. You cannot really compare them except if you want to be stationary or be able to take an adventure on the go.

Ok, for us teens, its really hard to make $, so its not very easy for us to just get gaming systems whenever you want, thats why im thinking of one or the other.

EDIT

ok i understand that one is a console and the other is a handheld but i was referring to what do you think would best work for me

Then why not just purchase the one you can afford now, and buy the other one later?

You'd be saving your money for several more months for a console that won't have a ton of games at release. Or you could spend that time with a handheld that already has a library going.

I've just never understood why people contemplate purchases for items that are several months away from being released. Worst case scenario: you spend all your money on a handheld, the Wii U comes out, and you absolutely HAVE TO HAVE IT. (for whatever reason I couldn't fathom)

You can dedicate any spare change or money you acquire over the holidays towards the Wii U, and do some odd jobs for relatives to make up the difference. Even if you only make 50 bucks a month, you'll have your console by next spring.

If you cannot shake down your entire family for 50 bucks a month, you shouldn't be buying games anyways. Save it for the days you don't feel like standing in the breadline.

3DS. Already have one and the Wii U will take some time to build up a decent library. I don't feel like buying Pikmin 3 and then having the system collect dust for a year. New Super Cash-In Bros. U does not interest me, I think the 3DS NSMB2 looks way better with more new spins on the gameplay. I expect a price drop about a year into the lifespan anyway, especially if they price it at $350 or higher.

Where did I say you were poor?

I have never run into a site so bad about putting their own words into other people's posts. Glad to see your reading comprehension is on par for the average young American.
