Mind blowing. 3D Land was on a handheld system, so Nintendo couldn't go that far in making it all fancy and mind blowing due to the technical limitations. But on the Wii U? Yeah, the next Mario game will be just plain amazing.

I hope so. People should stop hoping for a direct SM64 2. It isn't going to happen. The DS remake is the closest we are going to get to a proper SM64 2.

If we get another mario galaxy 3 nintendo has lost was it was loved for that spontaneous trait that i grew up with

I hope that they will return to Mushroom Kingdom. A "real" sequel to Super Mario 64, so to say.

However I guess i would like it even more if Nintendo showed something entirely new and different that i didnt ever realised that i wanted.
... Like Steampunk Mario bros or something haha ; )

I think it's unpredictable lately nintendo seems to be bouncing between innovation, formula recycling with a few tweaks and nostalgia.
so it might be just another mario galaxy, a completely new thing that will blow everyone's mind, or something in the lines of 3D land(mixing elements of the classic mario with 3D gameplay)
and though I'm tired of mario galaxy. all of the possibilities are good things nintendo's games only disapoint when they fail to reach the expectations and even those times they tend to not be really bad.

It won't be, the galaxy series was to show off some motion controls, this time around they are making a game that will show off the gamepad, so its something original

I doubt that it will be Galaxy 3. 2 only exists because it is all the content they couldn't fit into the first game.

as someone else pointed out on this thread or another they seem to make one new sub series per system since the SNES so in my mind theres no way theyd make another galaxy. i dont think they would anyway, i never even got halfway through 2, i didnt think the level design was half as good and the camera seemed alot more problematic than the first. seems like it was more a case off what was cut from galaxy more than extra ideas they couldnt implement.

Maybe go back to the 64 days, have an awesome memorable over world, where there are portals you go through, and there are more than 2 missions per world

All the rumors I've read about claim this will be a huge game and an open-world platformer akin to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. I hope so.

I agree with yoshisaredragon: a new art style would be cool. I also agree that it will likely not be a Galaxy 3 or game in outer space. I think Nintendo knows that it needs to either do something new or something hearkening back to the older Mario games (or preferably: a mixture of the two).

Yeah I think a new art style would be cool, but unfortunately I also think it's unlikely.

I remember years ago reading a Miyamoto interview where he expressed relief that Nintendo had finally got it's 3D character assets in line. I've no idea about the HD jump - Nintendo let's face it are so backwards sometimes - but you only have to look across the Mario Universe in terms of current games to see the same efficiencies in place. It makes sense when you look at the range of titles.

If they do tweak it, I'd rather go for a textured approach (Kinda HD Galaxy style but not) than a more toon-shade look (SS/SMS Cut-scene).

What about a retro-themed game? Where for plot reason, Mario has to visit pasts areas in his games like Dinosaur Island and Isle Delfino? I'd think Super Mario Legacy would be a good name for it.

Its not a 3D Mario. The trailer is going to show Mario about to jump into the world but than Luigi comes out of no where to show off Super Green Guy Universe.

If it's something really new, I can see the name tie in to the letter U somehow.

A rumor has stated that the new game will be titled Super Mario Retroverse U.

The most BS suggestion people keep making on the Mario series. And if they did change the art style people would still complain. -.-
