Point is, it's utter nuts to pretend the PS4 won't have great games. Perhaps not enough to justify the purchase for you (or perhaps even me, but look at the Wii U - my requirement for good games to buy a console is ridiculously low), but, well, I assume people want to be taken more seriously than Gamesake, and so people should realise that no major console will lack for playable games.

I dunno. The Vita's been pretty lacking and the PS3 took a while to take off (at least in the West)

Saying the Vita is lacking is like saying the iPad can't play good games. It's factually incorrect.

The 3DS is the weakest portable platform from my perspective, for instance.

Also, this conversation prompted me to go look to see what parts I would choose if I were to build my own computer.

I have come to the conclusion that I am never, EVER going to build my own computer. Thank you, so very much.

And therein lies the reason I would rather buy an off-the-shelf console than build a gaming PC. The latter takes far too much work and research.

Incidentally that is also why consoles will never die.

Last I checked, 3DS swiped Monster Hunter

And Vita scored Little King's Story.

Chalk up a win to Vita.

Wasn't the Vita version of Little King's Story a disappointment or something compared to Wii? I wouldn't know, I haven't played.

Of what few games I've tried on the Vita, almost all felt lackluster. Uncharted lacked the magic of the console versions, BLOPS Declassified just sucked plain balls, and ACIII: Liberation felt bland. Exception: LittleBigPlanet is more of the same with a few improvements except in this case, that's not a bad thing thus far. It doesn't feel washed out like COD or Madden because it's only been 4 titles. And it's not as bad as NSMB (haven't played NSMBU) because these games have more content going for them. Unplayed Exception: Gravity Rush seems to be getting the Kid Icarus treatment almost, in that critics are hampering on some issues while the fanbase reaction is "NO SCREW YOU THIS GAME IS AWESOME"

This is a signature.
Link goes here now.
Screw you.

@Bankai - Tell me about it. I spent the last half-hour trying to find a case that wasn't absolute ****. And I don't even understand this other stuff. I went to a computer class, but they didn't tell me what the difference between a solid state-drive and a hard drive, besides a couple hundred dollars for half the space...

I was planning on saving up for a new PC someday, but I think I'll just get a new graphics card (I figured out I can't get the newest stuff, but a GTX 280 might still be compatible with my current stuff) and an extra hard drive (Terrabyte ones are getting cheap), and then put any further money into a Wii U or something.

1) No, it's a better game.

2) The Vita has superior versions of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Disgaea 3. Liberation takes more than a 'try' to get it. That's like me saying Final Fantasy VII sucks because the opening cut scene was boring. Smart As is a brilliant Brain Training type game, LittleBigPlanet is superb. Gravity Rush is incredible. The Dynasty Warriors Vita game is so far superior to the 3DS games that it's embarrassing.

Then there's Knytt Undergrond, BlazBlue, Ecolibrium, Zen Pinball 2 (far better than the 3DS games, with their old physics models), Big Sky Infinity, Silent Hill Book Of Memories, Shinobido, All Stars Battle Royale, Sound Shapes.. And the PlayStation Mobile and PSP and PSOne libraries.

It takes five minutes of digging to realise the Vita has a library that suits just about any kind of gamer. It's pure reputation and nothing more that keeps people away from it. Just like the iPad.

All the systems have good stuff going for them really in some way or another, but I agree with PC being a 'hassle' to get into for gaming, unless you crap cash, or are Bill Gates and get the stuff for free. You could easily buy the best computer in the world that came out this very instant, and it would cost a 'measly' $100,000. WOW! What a deal! It really would be a good deal, but no one spends that much on a computer, even billionares. I bet Bill gates has had the best computer ever made since the beginning, and was just releasing 'updated' rigs every year to make it seem like the PC is getting better... Haha. Just kidding. Seriously though, you can only get so good of a computer in terms of specs before it's just ridiculous and unsupported. I heard there's alot better options to run PCs in the first place, like quartz having a better memory capacity than what they use now, but they don't know how to make it work. It's technically a theory based on the atom structure in comparison to current memory units.

PC Monitor=$300
Decent Gaming rig according to mass media= $2000
Games to play=$60
Getting quartz to work as a component for your computer=research/experimenting=priceless

It did not take 25 years. It took 21. Of Myths and Monsters exists y'know.

Seriously guys, I priced the specs for a PC that would be one step higher than the rumoured PS4/720 level spec. If you want to be into console gaming because you don't want to build a PC then that's fair enough. However you can still get similar sorts of prices and have someone else build it for you. Walk into a retail shop that sells computer components and say you want them to build you a small and quiet gaming machine, sans monitor, for under $1k. BAM! You'll have better than "next gen" graphics right now.

@CanisWolfred
Seriously, don't bother with a 280 it's really not worth the money. If your machine is that old you should really forget about upgrading especially if you don't even understand the difference between an SSD and HDD. Not worth it mate, you'll get burned if you walk into a retailer with that little knowledge.

@SCAR392
Don't pretend you have any idea what you're talking about because you really don't. There has been R&D put into optical computing for a long time but at this point it's simply impractical and too expensive. Consoles are computers just branded, proprietary pieces of hardware with uniform specs. When you buy a 360/PS3 you're basically having someone jump into a time machine and ask a computer builder from 2003 to make you a decent gaming machine for $1000.... and paying them $200 for it.

If the graphics are that important why not just take that $1000 (which is about the sweet spot) and get a decent gaming machine now? Nice case and all.

You need something else in the right place for "2/3 ain't bad" to be true y'know. Meatloaf does not approve of your inability to be above 50% in this regard.

@skywake
Technically time travelling to 1998 for PS3.
It's amazing how money plays such an important role in 'advancement' of everything. I never said I knew what I was talking, and wasn't pretending to either.

I'm gonna go make a computer using quarts as the solid slate, diamonds as the processor, a piece of glass as the graphics chip, water as the conductor between chips, and plants as antennas for wireless... See, I know what I'm talking about after all. Haha. Oh ya, my display is what I see with my eyes, wherever and whatever it is.
