I'd be all for a year of Yoshi since he was my old favorite game character from back when, but I'd feel kind of weird about it at this point since they already did something like it with Luigi instead though.

I thought of this as well, but Yoshi would make more sense for next year, since he already has 2 games confirmed for next year.

Yup, Nintendo needs to bring back Wario World from GameCube (Mario 3D World's engine is already perfect for that and with a 4 player mode it would be crazy). Release a new Wario Land for the 3DS and everyone is happy. Just imagine the possibilities of making silly pictures with Wario like in Wind Waker HD - Wario taking selfies with mountains of golden coins would be all that people need. Just do it Nintendo, thank me later.
