Just got my Wii U yesterday. The white 8gb model. I come here wondering if i can buy the stand to stand up the wii u that comes with the 32gb model? Will those feet stands work on my 8gb model? Thanks

The feet stand should work with the 8 gb model - the consoles have the same design, only thing that changes is the capacity. But I don't know if you can buy the stand, at least it is not available in the nintendo US store. You should check amazon or ebay, maybe in those sites you can find one!

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

No point in buying from Nintendo and paying for shipping for such a small item. I'd buy it from Amazon or whoever offers free shipping.

You can also use the Gamepad charging cradle/stand - outside of flash storage and case colour the machines are the same and work with all accessories.

I don't believe the stand is available separately (not officially anyway). You'll simply have to lay the Wii U down horizontally. The Gamepad stand and charging cradle are fully compatible (in fact they were released specifically for Basic Wii U owners), though they're a touch expensive for what they actually do. If you can find them cheap then they may prove to be of use.

If you wish to expand the memory of your Wii U, it is strongly advised that you buy a hard drive with a separate power source (no portable USB drives or USB sticks) as you will likely experience problems with these devices at a later time (and smaller USBs usually have a lower read/write cycle than larger devices), and the Wii U on its own does not supply enough power to sustain a portable USB hard drive. Some use Y-cables but I've read a few stories where the cables have eventually failed (or other problems have arisen) and then they complain despite not following Nintendo's recommendations. I use a 2TB Seagate drive which, so far, hasn't given me any problems, though occasionally, the hard drive doesn't switch on when I power on the Wii U, and occasionally I need to power down the Wii U, disconnect and then reconnect the hard drive's power source and then power on the Wii U again for it to be recognised. It's a 20 second or so inconvenience and is not a significant problem (and it doesn't happen too often).

Even if your only intention is to play retail discs, game patches, DLC and save data will eventually eat up your already limited system memory (after system updates and what not, you're left with about 2GB of free memory on the basic 8GB system). Happy Wii Uing.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
