Only if you buy the 3DS before August 11th, which I wont be able to. Oh well I still have my GBA SP so I can always look for the cartridge down the road.

What's that game like compared to the SNES version anyways? Like, they didn't change anything that would ruin it right? xD
(some remakes are known for doing that sometimes...>_>)

I guess from what everyone has told me here is that it doesnt use the FX chip other than that I dont know. Truthfully its been awhile since I played the SNES version and I never played it on GBA.

Ah, oh well...well at least I'll be able to own it again, even if its not on the big screen.

I'd say the GBA version is better as it has everything intact plus extra levels. The Super FX chip isn't really necessary to make a great game and the GBA version is good.

from the Yoshi's Island wiki:

The game featured no changes to its basic formula besides that voice samples from Yoshi's Story were used. There were two major additions, however: six new levels called "Secret levels" could be unlocked after beating the game,[20] and the Mario Bros. mini-game that appeared on all the Super Mario Advance series. If a player completes the game and gets 100 points on all 60 levels in the game, a secret ending will occur.[21]

If you really want to play the game here's a solution: Go to an online retailer and purchase it. That simple.

Everybody knows that already. Thats not the issue. Its not about having a means to play it, its about being able to play it on the Virtual Console. We're fans of the Virtual Console. We want more games for the Virtual Console. Its why we're on this particular forum of NintendoLife and not the Retro forum. I have perfectly functional SNES cartridges and a SNES to play them on. However, I still want them to be released on the VC and I would download them despite already owning them.

You never really know what people know. But in all honesty that sounds like a load of bull. Back when I was younger and jobless I wanted a select number of games to be on the VC because I either missed out or didn't have the physical cartridge. So I wanted them to be released but if I could of had the choice to buy in their original format I would have. (Not everyone thinks this way.)

So this goes two ways. One, you either prefer to have the convenience of having multiple games at the expense of not having to get up and change the cartridges or two, you really want to play these games but like me you don't have the income to do so nor time, whatever the case may be. If there's one thing you can't debate about is the fact that if these people really want to play Star Fox, Yoshi's Island, etc. that they'll go out of their way to find the game(s) and play them.

Just for you.

The only downside to the GBA port of Yoshi's Island is that the music isn't as good as the SNES version because of the GBA sound chip.

Ah I never knew that. Ok so if thats the case couldnt they just update the SNES version to not use the FX chip like they did with the GBA version?

That would make life too convenient

I've probably mentioned before I absolutely HATE the Yoshi's Story "Yoshi floating" sound effect, it is so annoying. The original was much better.
Glad I can at least get the game free.

(I know, it's pretty bad to judge a port based on one replaced sound effect.)

I do think it's nice that Nintendo gave us GBA Yoshi's Island and a sequel on the DS but that doesn't satisfy me enough. I want to play that badboy on my TV, sitting on the couch, using the big screen not the small DS screen. Sure, playing the GBA game on the GB Player is good but the resolution isn't the same as the SNES version.
