Now that we have direct SD card support on the Wii console, will Nintendo pick up the pace of the Nintendo 64 VC releases? I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I really hope so! We're still missing a heap of N64 classics (I'm looking at you, Mario Party series)! By the way, since Nintendo now have the rights to the Donkey Kong franchise again, I'd love to see Donkey Kong 64 re-released for Virtual Console (with the Jetpac game replaced with, say, Donkey Kong Jr., perhaps?). That would be fantastic in my collection: the fourth chapter of the DKC Trilogy...

I just thought of something (working on the basis that they end up doing Virtual Handheld for the DSi in the West); if Nintendo can find some way of supporting Transfer Pak-compatible games, then they could easily release the likes of Pokemon Chrome + Stadium, or indeed Pokemon GS + Stadium 2, in tandem. I have to say that I found Stadium 2 to be the best of the Arena-type Pokemon games (and this was without the Transfer Pak!), so that'd be a cool idea.

I sure hope so, including some more Neo Geo.

They will pick up especially now that Majora's Mask is coming this month in Japan. Keep in mind that that game requires the Expansion Pak meaning that Nintendo has gotten around that issue and this means that bigger games such as Donkey Kong 64 (absolutely dying to see it come) are much more likely than they were a few months ago.

Remember, Japan also got Smash Bros in January and it's nowhere to be seen internationally, so don't get too excited.
I can't see the rate of N64 releases picking up for the simple reason that there just aren't many left to release (that are any good, anyway). The Rare stuff (Banjo-Kazooie, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day) is all off the table and aside from those there's only first-party titles left, really. That being said, if Treasure released the original Bangai-O and Mischief Makers I might just wet myself.

There aren't many left to release? Hardly. You should see all of the games I'm still waiting for.
And SSB64 is on the way. The fact that it is out at all says something.

I don't see why it would change because of the SD update, but it would be nice to see more games nonetheless.

I have to agree with Wiiloveit here. It would be nice to see some more 3rd party N64 games.

@Wiiloveit: Think about it. Sizes. Expansion Pak required for Majora's Mask. Not that hard to deduce what that means.

And yet they still haven't fixed Wave Race and Mario Kart (I refer to the "Missing Controller Pak" issue)...why don't they just create a Controller Pak channel? Oh, and N64 releases I'd like? Hmm...let's see...the Mario Party games as I already mentioned; DK64, which I also mentioned; Pokemon Stadium (2) in tandem with Chrome and GS on DSi; The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (which is coming! Now I may have enough time to actually GET the Ocarina of Time back!), Super Smash Bros. (announced); Excitebike 64 (maybe); and Mario Tennis (provided it actually sees a release, that is). Ten games that still need releasing, not counting possible imports like Custom Robo...okay, I'll zip up now...

I wouldnt mind seeing any Mario Party game as well.Of course any decent N64 game will be welcome on the VC. Although I wouldnt mind seeing Turok Rage Wars. That was my favorite FPS.

I sure hope so and throw in some NEO-Geo games as well. Nintendo needs to balance out the releases for all the systems. Oh and go back to 3 games a week please

I sure hope that N64 releases pick up now, I'd love Treasure's Bakuretsu Muteki Bangioh myself. After Sin & Punishment there is every chance we'll get another Treasure import!

I would love to see the N64 release list pick up but I'm not convinced it'll happen too soon. Wiiware is gaining momentum and the DSi and it's shop is trying to find it's feet. Why would Nintendo bother distracting us from these cash-cows? To appease us lot we've just got the VC Arcade games and there'll be loads of those coming now that 3rd parties can resell us the same games (or variations thereof) that they've already sold us on the other Virtual platforms...just my tuppence worth.

I sure hope so. N64 is my favorite "old" system of those available. Of my 4 VC downloads (not including SMRPG which I am about to get) 3 are N64.

My nephews and I have fond memories of Turok Rage Wars. One of us would be the mites and the others would have to try and stop them. We had so much fun! I'll even share the song we made about the mites, even though I feel a little foolish doing so.
One, two mites are coming for you.Three, four better watch the door.Five, six they have acid spit.Seven, eight soon it'll be too late.Nine, ten you got fragged again.
Silly, I know, but we laughed our butts off over this song. I would like to see this game come out on the VC with the two player mode FIXED! There was a glitch in it and we could never advance past a certain point.

I hope so, been wanting Donkey Kong 64 for a while now, but after that there isn't much left. I doubt Perfect Dark or Jet Force Gemini will be ported.
