Have the Wii Points Cards been discontinued? I cannot find them in stores anywhere, so I guess the only way to add points is by credit card through the Wii Shop Channel

Yes, they are. Everyone in North America is able to buy Wii points with a prepaid Visa/Mastercard. I did it today on my Wii U in Wii mode and bought games from the Wii Shop Channel. I bought Super Mario Kart and Super Mario 64. At first I was bummed but then I thought about prepaid Mastercards. I got a 25 dollar Mastercard card and used it for 2000 points. It's only a different card you have to buy. (-:

Hey jfoley85, do you have any more wii point cards?

You should use a normal credit card if you can, Visa/MasterCard prepaid cards make you pay an extra fee to get them.

Yes, there is a small activation fee for the prepaid credit card, but if your like me and DON"T want a credit card because of interest and such they are the perfect solution to the cards no longer being sold.

Which is why a debit card is so fantastic, because it's your money.

But not as secure. If someone steals it, they steal your money, not credit.

True, you have to keep an eye out, but that's just like cash too. But, just using it for the Wii Shop is fine. Gas stations....eh...

Pay your credit card off at the end of the month.

No interest, and you accumulate rewards. The only reason to not want one is if you know you're irresponsible.

Which is why I have a separate account for my online transactions and the most that I have in that account at one time is maybe $50. When I want to buy something online then I add the money to that account. That way if it gets stolen or something I dont lose every single penny to my name.

Then you report it stolen ASAP so they can't steal your money.

Funny how this topic has gone. First it was a question about if the cards were discontinued, then a VC game giveaway by @mrshadow202 (whom I still don't know how to contact) and then a debate about debit cards over credit cards.
In my experience, the Wii Shop Channel does not accept all debit cards, I've tried to and doesn't let me buy point. I always have to borrow a credit card.

I'm pretty sure it accepts Visa and MasterCard. It's possible that you have a card that's not one of those.

Sorry I know this is an older thread, I just got a good chuckle out of how often it did swift directions. I also wanted to point out, for people that dont want to use your credit card on nintendo's shop, or don't have a credit card you can buy Nintendo prepaid cards on websites like http://www.instantgamecodes.com/buy-games/wii-points-codes That is just the one I have personally used, there are alot of other very similar websites out there to!

Crap. After several years in Japan, the bank linked to my US debit card finally forced me to change the address on my account to Japan. I wanted to download a few virtual console games in English instead of getting them in Japanese on my WiiU (plus I still have some points in my account that I would like to use), but I can't find any way of buying Wii points (physical or otherwise). Any ideas, or has everyone else with a similar problem given up already?
