@Tasuki - That makes me wonder why they allowed the GB Tetris on the 3DS VC.

@TheDreamingHawk: The FX chip I believe is having some kind of licensing issue which is why games like Star Fox and Stunt Race FX haven't come to the VC service. As for Tetris that too is licensing issues which is why really no Tetris game has been released on the VC. From what I have read is that the owner of the Tetris license wasnt happy on how Nintendo put Tetris on every puzzle game to increase sales. A prime example of that was Tetris Attack. Anyway when the contract ran out the Tetris company decided not to renew with Nintendo cause of how they used the name.

I know that, But isn't the Starfox and Stunt race deal to the fact that the FX chip can hardly be emulated?

And I don't believe that Tetris gibberish. GB tetris came out of nowhere, and they can just remove the one song that's blocking it's release.

But I really doubt Dr mario has a legal issue. It's made by Nintendo!

I think but I could be wrong the only reason they allowed the GB Tetris to be released on the 3DS VC is cause its the most well known form of Tetris and for most people myself included its how they were introduced to Tetris. So they figured at least they owe fans that much. But Nintendo couldnt just put it out on their own they would have to get permission from the Tetris company.

It can be emulated just do a google and see what I mean so I dont think thats the problem. Because the chip was co developed with Argonaut Games with Nintendo is the real reason that it cant come to the VC.

As for the Tetris Gibberlish as you called I found that info out when I was wondering why it was so hard for me to find Tetris DS and why it was no longer produced or sold as new since it is claimed by many to be the best version of Tetris ever.

I'm sure there may be some truth to about Tetris not being happy with Nintendo, but at the same time as a business I would imagine the Tetris Company would be happy for Nintendo to pay to use the Tetris name again. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with Nintendo not wanting to pay to use the name again, so we will probably never see Tetris Attack on the VC. I would like to see the NES Tetris on the VC though. Oh well.

@Brooks83: I dont know the whole deal but I do know that The Tetris company has gone after Google in the past for Tetris clone games on its Android phones and has gone after Apple for Tetris clones on the Iphone. It just might be a combination of both Nintendo doesnt want to pay what the Tetris Company is asking for and the amount that The Tetris Company is asking for is ridiculous. ANd than again The Tetris company could just be saying no. Who really knows but its just sad cause there were alot of good Tetris games that were on the NES and SNES.

The Tetris Company don't like Tetris Attack soley because its not a Tetris game.

Nintendo could release the Super Nintendo, Game Boy and N64 Tetris games without a problem, but not Tetris Attack. Nor do they change the name for VC games.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

They could, but of course won't, release the Satellaview version of Tetris Attack, Yoshi's Panel de Pon. Especially because the N64 version with Pokemon is being sold on VC.

This is a very good question. I'm really wondering where Bomberman 64 is (considering they have Bomberman Hero). I loved that game and I was hoping it would get released soon after Hero ;( .

But back to the question, I really don't know. Maybe it's licensing issues, maybe 3rd parties have no faith in Virtual Console, maybe it's that Nintendo is saving all of the games for a "big Thursday" day in which they release a whole slew of N64 games (as well as the others) on this one day. I have no idea what's going on at all.

Be kind to yourself and to others.

What about GoldenEye? That's one game that really SHOULD be on there but isn't. Stupid licenses.

It probably has to do with the fact that Hudson Soft is no more and Konami now owns everything by Hudson Soft and we all know how good Konami is at releasing games for the VC.

I think that part of the reason why we don't see more third party games is because of issues with emulating the N64 Controller Pak. As you may remember the VC release of Mario Kart 64 couldn't save your ghosts.

A lot of third party games used the Controller Pak for saving game date. And until they can figure out a solution we won't see many third party games.

Probably because they want to boost sales of the new remake.

I have bought recently the new remake and it is a completly different game. One game not shadows another. Both are different.

Me gusta jugar videojuegos. Soy de México. Sorry my english grammar. I love the Virtual Console, party and fighting games too.

Not really. Its cause of the complexity of the licensing that is keeping it from the VC.

One of the major issues that hurts Nintendo 64 games on the Virtual Console is the lack of controller pak support. Many third-party developers used the controller pak due to it being the cheaper then including the ability to save on the N64 cart itself.. That's the main reason why most of Nintendo's games have managed to make it to the Virtual Console. Many major third-party games like both N64 Castlevania games, The Turok Games, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, and numerous other third-party titles required the controller pak to save data. Which means these games would be playable on the Wii, but data could not be saved and due to a lack of suspending gameplay on N64 titles, a player would have to restart their game every single time.

I'm hoping the Wii U fixes this problem with its VC. One hopeful sign is that due to the Gamecube using memory cards, Nintendo will be forced to emulate accessing data from a memory card on the Virtual Console, which means they might finally add controller pak support to the N64 games on the service.

Not only would this open the door for games like Mario Kart 64 to regain features that were lost, but it would also allow many third party games to finally make it onto the service.

That, and the amount of money they'd spend getting it on there wouldn't be worth the risk. There's a lot that'd have to go into the licensing process that'd just make it too costly. Heck, just the fact that Pierce Brosnend is in the game is a licensing issue.
It doesn't matter too much anyway. Most of the great games on the N64 not made by Nintendo are by Rare, so it's not like we have a chance of getting any of those, bar DK64. Yeah, there's a few exceptions, Mischief Makers being the one I can think of, but I doubt anyone actually wants to put stuff on VC now. Not many people are using their Wii's nowadays. I'll be surprised if we don't see new VC stuff at the Wii U launch.
