This game is killing me. Trust me, I'm usually more than adept at platformers, but this is impossible. I downloaded it today, played it for like two hours and I still haven't made it past the 2nd boss (which must be less than 10 minutes into the game). Does it get a lot harder towards the end? Is it like the hardest game ever? Or do I just suck at it?

Yeah, that's exactly where the game gets me too, lol. I usually like to think of myself good at this type of game too, but I figured maybe I had just met my match u__u

i finally beat it last month actually. just know as in all games in this series, you have to beat the game twice in order to get the real ending. i didnt run into much trouble until the end on the second quest. though its safe to say ive been playing that game for many years so i know it inside out. i know retroluma91 said he beat it like 4 times.

It's an extremely difficult game and will turn a grown man into a child in a matter of a few minutes. It might even be made Satan himself. Keep practicing and by 2016 you might be able to beat it! :D

I managed to beat the game last year. Just keep practicing at it. Eventually you will start to memorize the enemies' patters and what not. I actually had the most trouble with the 2nd to last boss on the 2nd playthrough. You have to kill him with the special weapon and it is not easy.

It's brilliantly cruel...but no, I've never beaten it. Great series, but I don't love them because I'm good at them...I love them because they hate me so, so good.

@shake_zula - What it is, bro? /fist knux

I've never played Super Ghouls n Ghosts but I have beaten Ghosts n Goblins for NES and Arcade (beaten the proper way - two playthru's to get to final boss). I'm sure Super Ghouls n Ghosts is just as difficult as those games.......oh gosh, now I want to d/l SGnG!!! :'(

Beat Ghouls and Ghosts on megadrive and master system but didn't get Super until it came to VC by which time I was spoiled by hand holding modern gameplay, I even struggle on Ghouls and Ghosts now never mind Super :/

My only claim to fame is beating Ghouls and Ghosts which it a tough game but what is really scary is Ghouls and Ghosts in considered the easier than Ghosts and Goblins and Super Ghouls and Ghosts.

I beat Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the SNES 2 Halloweens ago and while it was no walk in the mushroom kingdom, it's still a lot more managable than the Arcade original 'Ghost 'n Goblins' at least i found which was twice as challenging and a trip to Retro Arcadey' hell. I managed to finish that one last halloween...1 trillion deaths later. :p Red Brand is such a pain in the devil. But overall, i think it's safe to say that 'Ghouls 'n Ghosts' is the better game.

I don't think there's one game on the planet that instantly ramps up the difficulty as much as Ghouls does on it's first stage. lol

Tried the arcade game a while ago, and died on the first enemy. Yes, I knew how to control and attack, I just didn't see it coming.

And then when you've beaten it, you can go get the PS2/Xbox version (Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1) and try to do it without the slowdown. It'll frustrate you all over again! :D
