Where did the VC game sizes (in blocks) on each VC main game page go? (or maybe it was on the game's review page, I can't remember, one of the 2)

The game page or review page (when they were on vc-reviews.com anyway) for each Virtual Console game used to say the number of blocks it took up in the Wii's memory.

Now it does not . Where did that information go? It was kinda useful

.

They removed it because they didn't think it was necessary after update 4.0. You can plead your opposing case to the admins if you wish, though. You're not the only one to ask.

Hehe you can go buy a SD card now, it's too much of a pain to maintain that information :-p

Cripe. Well, it was still useful information tho _ Why remove it when it was already THERE on each game's page? o_o

Anyhow, where exactly should I go to "plead my case"? (which forum? email?)

I don't mean to sound presumptious but how much more of a pain can it be to add the block info to the stats than writing a review for every game that comes out? :)

From the horse's mouth in another thread:

Yeah, removing these wasn't really to do with the sites merging, we felt that now everyone can use SD cards it far less of an issue for the majority of users. It was actually quite hard work to maintain that information on the site - something we felt was very valuable until the 4.0 update. I'll raise this with the other admin's and see if they'll reconsider, I can see why it was decided to drop them though.!

I agree it wasn't necessary but it was a nice cosmetic feature for those of us who want to see just how big games are even if the storage issue is no longer a problem.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

What's the size you need in your Wii's memory to copy the biggest game from the SD?

PAL is the new NTSC

If you know what size a game is it'll save you time as you can make sure there's enough space on the Wii to launch SD card games without fiddling about. Having said that if you leave 500 blocks free at all times you should be more than fine.

I just run all my games off SD and all other channels off the system, but SD cards aren't free, so I imagine storage may still be an issue for some.

i think they should still be there. if only for complete-ness. plus, although space isnt nearly the issue it was, its still a (minor) consideration.

They aren't that expensive. If you are buying a game around 10.00, surely they could use that money to buy a SD card.

Plus, if you REALLY want to know how big the games are just look at the sizes in the Shop Channel. >.>

I'll ask again :) How do I plead my opposing case to the administrators about this issue?

Do I need to create a forum post in a SPECIFIC forum or send an email to a specific email address?
If yes to either, please say the name of the forum or give the email address. Thanks! :-)

And my 2 cents...

Reasons the Block sizes of the VC / Wiiware games should be put BACK on each game's page:

1. Knowing the block sizes for each game (which btw in the Wii SHop channel are NOT always the correct numbers, those are ESTIMATES; after you download a game, the actual number of blocks it takes up is often different than the estimate you saw in the Wii Shop channel.)

2. How difficult can it be to keep the block info for each VC / Wiiware game (about 20 characters worth of text:
"Blocks: 24 (US) / 26 (EU) just as a example or something similar) on each game's page though?

I mean JUST LOOK at what is STILL there on each game's page (I used Adventure of Lolo 2 here as an exmaple: Name of game, Game profile, Review, Cost (in points), Publisher, Genre, Players (#), Series (a game belongs to), Controller Support, and 3 Release dates along with several screenshots, a movie or 2 and a ton of comments!
That's a lot of stuff! :-D
Now really, is adding something like 20 more characters of text like THIS [Blocks: 24 (US) / 26 (EU)] for each game goona break the server or something? _

3. The SD card support is great, but if you're moving files (save data, suspend save data, channels, VC /Wiiware games, etc) around IN the Wii's internal memory, it is extremely helpful to know how large each of the VC /Wiiware games is.

4. Simple completeness :)

5. What this above poster said: :)
"If you know what size a game is it'll save you time as you can make sure there's enough space on the Wii to launch SD card games without fiddling about."

The Suggestions & Feedback Forum would seem the obvious place. There might be an email you could send to, but it would be better for you case if it were public and open to discussion so others could chime in if they feel the same way.

Yeah, that's the best way to get your views across. This one has been mentioned by a few people already, and it known by the bossman (things have been a bit chaotic for us in this first week of the merger, so bear with us while we iron out the kinks)
