I've mostly lurked here until recently when I've gotten a little time to post. But, I've followed this site and the VC for well over a year.
Something worrysome I've noticed lately is the decline in Capcom and Konami games on the VC. Final Fight 2 (SNES) and Strider (Gen) are the only two from either company I see listed as possible future releases in the coming soon list here. The last Konami VC release was March 23rd (Detana TwinBee), and Capcom's was February 9th (MERCS). Mega Man releases were at a steady pace, but we've now not seen one since MM III on November 10th.
Is this Nintendo wanting to focus on systems that didn't have much Capcom and Konami support, or are the two companies starting to abandon Virtual Console (WiiWare for that fact... haven't seen Contra ReBirth yet)? You sure can't say they've already used up all their best titles and have nothing left to offer (or is that a reason for the decline, saving their big guns for later). Here's some of what the companies have yet to release on VC JUST for the NES...
Konami: Jackal, Track & Field II, Metal Gear, Rush 'N Attack, Gyruss, Contra, Skate or Die, The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Contra Force, Silent Service. Capcom: Mega Man IV-VI, 1942, 1943, Bionic Commando (yeah, I know, not supposed to appear... but still), Commando, Trojan, Section Z, Gun Smoke, Legendary Wings, Strider, Mighty Final Fight, Gargoyle's Quest II.
That's not even taking into account classics unreleased for other systems like the SNES and Genesis. Some of those releases are licensed to other companies now (TNMT, etc.), but that still leaves plenty of Castlevania, Contra, Gradius, Mega Man and Strider left untouched, just in the way of their well-known series.
And it would be a dream come true to see an arcade-perfect Street Fighter II (other releases have been close, but had minor differences). That and so many other Capcom/Konami releases that would bring the VCA alive.
So, what's everyone else's take on this. Reason to be worried yet?
Thank you. I tried to do my research on it and get all my Duck Tales in a row. There are several on the list I'd like to see, but the main ones are Konami's Castlevania: Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps. I sided with Nintendo the duration of the 16-Bit wars and thus never had a Genesis, so those were two I was sad to miss out on. I'll be interested in seeing how good Genesis Strider is compared to the arcade version. "All sons of old gods...DIE!"
Well, you can at least satisfy your desire for Mega Man without waiting for Capcom to get off their asses and release the rest on VC. Just pick up a used copy of the Gamecube version of Mega Man Anniversery Collection and you'll instantly have Mega Man 1-8 to play on your Wii. Not to mention there's also the Mega Man X Collection available as well.

I'm likewise really anxious to see Castlevania: Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps. But considering how long it took Konami to give us Castlevania III and the fact that we still haven't seen the original Contra, we could be waiting for a while...

Thanks for reminding us, there vio. I now remember wanting to save up for that, I've got the Sonic Mega Collection (would like the Gems one for Sonid Cd) (yeahp, those collections are like worth it to me...its just fun to be able to play them on GCN and or Wii)
Woah, Castlevania 64 would be freaky to play I'd say. I never got around to playing it or even seeing screenshots, etc., its a freakin N64, and it would be like an up-yours to all those reviews and such I've heard about. (I know that may sound ridiculous, but that's just what may be a characteristic of being a Nintendo fan/user/player )
Bionic Commando, is that that complicated (or it was when I was a kid lol) shooter-adventure-rpg?
