I wanted to narrow down my Sonic games to two, so I sold Mega Collection and downloaded Sonic Chaos and the Genesis version of Sonic the Hedgehog. The latter was a bad idea. Turns out the Classic Controller is not necessary for that game. I could've gotten the identical Master System version for 300 fewer points.

@StarFox: The Master System version isn't identical (completely different level design), and it is inferior to the Genesis version. You made the right choice.
I just want International Karate Phants. I don't understand why we have to wait so much longer. Oh well, I'll live. The rest of the selection looks decent at best though.

A huge amount of Genesis games on the VC are a ripoff. If you have a PS3 or 360 you can just go buy Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for about $30 bucks and save a buttload of cash.

In Europe they certainly are I agree. Not only are we charged full price or even more for Hanabi Import games Americans got originally, we're given crappy 50hz ones which are slower and butcher the music....Pay more for an inferior product, no chance. Get your finger out Sega and solve this problem at least!

IMO, I haven't felt too ripped off with VC games, to be honest I've been more disappointed with WiiWare over VC.
However I will state the obvious...
I wish ALL VC games can be played in 60hz mode and not just Import and TG16 games.
I wish that C64 game had better interface, e.g. allow us to use a USB keyboard when we need to use keys over that annoying OSK.
I wish Nintendo would fix the FX chip issues sooner!
I wish that Nintendo would allow us to use our Original controllers for the VC, playing N64 games without actual C buttons blow, try playing Ocarina of Time with the C stick, no thanks...
Where's Virtual Console for DSi?
However, enough of the nay saying, here's some positive light on the VC...
VC games ACTUALLY play the way they were, those game compilations you get don't always emulate games they way they do on the actual console.
VC games can be played in Progressive scan and look very nice.
VC games don't use 3X upscaling or crappy kreed filters since the Wii is capable of outputting lower resolutions, which the other consoles can't.
Ok there's my rant, but I will include a VC game that people can do without, Cybernator, I thought I would like it, but the controls are bad...

I play the copy that got bundled with Wind Waker in Europe and don't find the C-Stick that bad to play with, in some cases it's actually better. Also I think the original controller thing is coming, heard that adaptors were coming out soon, not sure if they're official or 3rd party though.

I'd say most Arcade games are ripoffs. Even though the arcade version of Space Harrier is supposed to be superior to the SMS version, paying $8 for it is just obscene, especially given how terrible it's aged.
Other than that, and the extra dollar slapped onto imports that haven't been translated in any way, I think the VC prices are reasonable enough.

not that i think of it, the whole Arcade section of the VC seems like a rip-off to me
I agree on Genesis games. A few years ago, I bought the Sega Genesis Collection. It has 28 Genesis games, plus a few unlockable arcade games, all for $20. Thats $204 less than it would cost to download them.
