I used to own a copy of a cool Acclaim game. It was called Hardball 5.

IMO, the biggest losses are licensed games and Konami.

Disney really should have got in touch with Sega and Capcom (they didn't) to release their amazing 8 and 16-bit classics, and Konami should have released their Genesis games and kept up the TG16 and Hudson releases.... they didn't. They should have also released the later TMNT games instead of the first one on the NES.... they didn't.

honestly you took the words out of my mouth for this one... I definitely was not a sega fan but always went to my friends house to play me some disney games.. and the TMNT were also excellent games... but don't remember if I played them on the genesis or super nintendo...

I love how only five responses are talking about the actual topic rather than how great old school Mortal Kombat games are.

I for one, could care less if Midway or Acclaim supported the Virtual Console since everything that was built up from 2006, has been thrown out the window with the Wii U.

old school MK were some of the worst fighting games ever, any self respected gamer knows that, stiff, unresponsive, crappy hit boxes and were slow because of how bad the gameplay was back in the day

SF2, KF are so, so much better...

SOrry, but classic Mortal Kombat were a huge load of crap: crappy control, slow. The only thing that was funny about them was the blood and pre-renderized graphics whic we didnt see so much back in the days. You only have to play one of them to see how bad are today compared with Street Fighter II which i beleive it was way earlier.

So, not a big loss that we dont have Mortal Kombat in VC.

"crappy control, slow" - You mean not button mashing like the new ones right?

No, he means stiff, unresponsive, convoluted, slow compared to even the Street Fighters of the time...seriously, have you played these game recently? They really are a mess. Always were.

I'd take mortal kombat over SNK's early fighters any day. But Street fighter is miles better than MK anyway so it isn't a big loss.

I think that was Accolade (the Bubsy people), not Acclaim.

Agreed... I especially wanted to see Rocket Knight Adventures and Contra Hard Corps on the virtual console, Konami would've made some decent money if they did! as for the Disney games, the only one I played was Quackshot for the Genesis, that was from an ebay auction, since I wanted to have a Genesis back then

Konami still CAN put up VC games, they just don't want to.

Konami never really does much of anything anymore. Which is a shame considering their back catalog.

same goes for the other companies capcom, sega, namco bandai. back to mortal kombat, i think the worst version was the gameboy one- in my opinion, the controls were terrible and the graphics look horrid. even with the gore and mature rating, in terms of everything else it lacked good gameplay that streetfighter 2 & the earlier king of fighters games had.
