Super Smash Bros, the Nintendo 64 fighting game that spawned two sequels in Melee and Brawl, will be available for download on Virtual Console this Friday.
Super Smash Bros features eight fighters (and four unlockable ones), and nine playable stages. Although it's obviously nowhere near as in-depth as the recent Super Smash Bros Brawl on Wii, it's still great four-player fun and well worth the 1000 Points it'll be available for.
WiiWare fans have one game this Friday too: Cocoto Platform Jumper, a conversion of the PlayStation 2 game of the same name. As the name suggests, it's a platform game where you have to help Cocoto get to the top of 40 vertical levels.
Advertisement: As for DSiWare, there are a couple of potential crackers in there too. Gameloft will attempt to continue its streak of impressive DSiWare games with Asphalt 4: Elite Racing, which features 28 cars, eight cities to race through, four-player multiplayer and the ability to customise your car by taking photos with the DSi camera and using them as stickers.
Meanwhile Hudson Soft will be releasing Sudoku 150! For Challengers on DSiWare. Simply put, it offers 150 different Sudoku puzzles for beginners and experts alike.
All games will be out on Friday (well, midnight on Thursday night). To summarise formats and prices:
Virtual Console Super Smash Bros - 1000 Points
WiiWare Cocoto Platform Jumper - 700 Points
DSiWare Asphalt 4: Elite Racing - 800 Points Sudoku 150! For Challengers - 500 Points
Will you be tempted to splash the Points on any of these?
Those are the guys that reviewed Mario Golf 64 and Secret of Mana way way before they were released.
I wouldn't trust them with VC games. They've been wrong before and I'm not expecting much from this either but will be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be true.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
The paradigm shift is so hard to get used to. It always used to be that Nintendo hated EUROPE, didn't it? Call me selfish, but I miss those days... Really, though, if this DOES release in Europe this week, I think we ALL know to expect more furious demands for a North American release in coming weeks until it finally drops. The internet is such a curse, causing such jealousy worldwide...
@Bass X0: What do you mean, "obviously?" I still have my collection of Nintendo Power dating back 20 years!
Yes, look deep into your heart, you know it to be true!
lol, well, let's see what they release on VC this Monday. I swear... it better not be a crappy game or this time I will be upset. Now's the time for 2 VC releases.
@Stuffgamer1: Underneath my frustration with NoA, I'm really happy for NoE getting good stuff lately (even since before they got PEDE Same Game before us, that's when it really started) and quite frankly, they deserve it. I only wish that NoA would smarten up with VC releases here...
SSB 64 and Asphalt 4 insta downloads. Hope this is true. Where the frack is Icarian, Watergun and Overturn FFS!? Hope they got the Wiiware release wrong!

I used to cut up my old magazines for the pictures and stick them inside scrap books and stuff. Or they were read a lot and fell apart because of that. Or simply not looked after properly; I had to throw a number of old magazines away just because of space reasons.
The big question is, once SB64 and SMK get released what VC non-release will people bitch about next?
Sorry if I can't respond you correctly. Although I read it quite well, my written english is very bad (and I'm against automatic translations because then I'll never learn).
If we in EU got Smash Bros before you, remember we got the Wii Points and every single game or object from Nintendo for the same price as you. And $-€ is not the same change. It's a shame if as well consider 60 Hz vs. 50 Hz. challenge in VC games. Europe it's periphery for Nintendo. And this is the only chance they got to repair.
Considering Majora's Mask came to NA quickly after EU got it, don't be surprised if we get this Monday or the Monday after that. And at which point, I'll be really ecstatic.

If you're expecting anything as "quickly" as MM, you'll have about 6 weeks to wait.
