Topic: Speed jump not working in Mario games on VC

Hi! New to the forums. Wanted to check with you regarding an issue I've had on the Wii VC since forever.

I've mostly noticed this on Super Mario Bros. (NES) and Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES). When doing a super jump by holding down the B button the jump will, more often than not, fail. And when it does work, I can never do two super jumps in a row without first letting go of all buttons. I'm using the Wiimote sideways. Have tried two Wiimotes with the same result. Both controllers work fine on all Wii games, it's only ever occurs on the VC. Not being able to trust the controls takes away much of the joy, and makes me feel like a worse player than (I hope) I am.

Is this a known problem (haven't found any topics on it)? Can it be resolved, and if not: is it better on a Wii U? Thinking of getting the Wii U anyway, but if the same problem remains I'm gonna be disappointed. Appreciate any hints, tips, or insight you can give me on this issue.

Thanks

I have a WiiU with several Mario games and rarely ever face this problem with the gamepad. On the gamepad, if the controls aren't comfortable, they are also able to be changed. But no, these games, at least for me, work perfectly with the controller. Hoped this helped

Do you like videogames? If so, you must know

Thank you. Looks like I'll be buying the Wii U soon. Store opens at 10, I think.
Have you tried using a regular Wiimote controller, or just the gamepad?

The games work correctly, probably your controllers are dirty and they stick and don't go back up quick or it's dirty inside. Maybe you should try using a GameCube controller or a Classic controller.

@omc79 I cannot use my Classic Controller in NES games, and I'm afraid I have none from GameCube. Sounds logical that it might be a controller issue. I will buy a new Wiimote. After all, the ones I got are from way back in 2006... Thanks for the tip!
