I didn't really care about Sonic CD. When I played it, I just didn't feel any of the charm and quality that the previous games had. The graphic style was also inferior to the earlier games.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Vectorman and its sequel were in both versions.

If Nintendo has Turbo Grafx CD games on the VC they should be perfectly capable of supporting the Sega CD. I mean come on it's not that hard!

Sonic CD is an okay game.

If people are really wanting to play it, Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems Collection can be picked up for less than $15 together on the gamecube.

But the sonic gems version is a port of the pc version. and it's inferior to the sega cd version.

I got a Mega CD late last year and bought TWO copies of Sonic CD. I have to say it quickly became one of my favourite Sonic games - it is a beautiful platformer, with a fantastic concept at its centre and full of the classic Sonic charm that made me fall in love with the blue chap all over again. He's never been more limber than in Sonic CD; he's lithe and athletic, and the introductory and ending movies are still the best ever game movies, in my eyes.

I love Sonic CD so much. For years it was my Holy Grail, the missing piece of my collection, and when I got it I felt happier than I can probably put into words. I'd say it was my thirteenth-favourite Sega game of all time, but I'm sure if I could have afforded the Mega CD and game when I was growing up it would have made me a better man by a thousand times over.

SONIC CD IS AWESOME, OKAY?

@ Mrpinguy: Very true. I wouldn't mind sacrificing the frame-rate though if we get the proper soundtrack.
@ Bulbasaurus: Gems Collection has the horrible American music.

Yeah I bought that twice! I got Gems on the GameCube and was so shocked that they had changed the music. The music was one of my favourite things about the game so I sent it back and bought the Japanese version instead (which also meant I got the Streets of Rage games and Bonanza Bros on the disc too!). People say "it's just music" but it's such an awesome soundtrack that to play the game with it for all these years and then suddenly have it changed makes the game harder to enjoy on the same level.

Look at it this way - if they changed the memorable Green Hill music in Sonic 1 does anyone think that wouldn't bother them?

That would be so sweet. I still have a genesis, but my Sega CD broke a long time ago. If I were to buy another, it would really only be for that one game, so it would be sweet to have a VC version.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Y'know you could do what I did (assuming you have a PC). Go to GameStation, pick up a copy of Sonic CD (they usually have loads) and then download a Mega CD emulator for your PC. You can even rip the game from the disc so you won't need to insert that every time and it's also perfectly legal.

It's not the same as having it on Virtual Console but will probably cost you less than a fiver anyway and it'll do until Sega get around to releasing some Mega CD titles.

The musics of Sonic CD japanese version is much better than american version musics.

What's your local store? I've been to no end of Gamestations and have only ever seen one on the shelf! I got one eventually (can't remember which store) but I love the idea of being able to walk into a high street games shop and nonchalantly pick up a copy of a fifteen-year old Mega CD game

I'm sure the one on Princes Street Edinburgh has some copies.

I have just bought the Gems Collection recent;y, and played this game for the first time last night. I am quite pleased with it so far, very clear graphics, although the music seems a bit stop and start. Good level design for the Robotnick fights!

That's one Hell of a Gamestation store as well: it's the only one in the company with a lift!

I own gems collection for the GC and it would be cool for Sonic CD to come on VC but it will keep the fans happy.

I officially own a MAME arcade machine.
